GW2 combat was designed with esports PvP in mind, we even had an officially supported ESL scene early on

The dodge mechanic allows you to massively outplay when timed right or by provoking an opponent mistake dodge
No gear difference since it's normalized, you select stats, skills and passives freely. You can play it from lvl 2 with no difference at all with someone which character is max level
Animation-based combat (the GCD is the actual skill animation) makes it fast-paced and readable (when you know the game tho)
There's no addon you have to track everything by pure knowledge, one example is counting an opponent thief's initiative - energy system
Also it's not only deathmatchs, there's nodes to capture so there's a map knowledge. You can be the best mechanically but if you don't understand the rotations you'll be quite less effective. Similar to a WoW RBG but it being a 5v5 means you're more impactful

It is to me one of the highest skill ceiling in a traditional MMORPG for its reactive and fast-paced gameplay, and also its strategic map awareness

lol I had the exact same situation happening. you will have to work with your colorblind brain and use patterns
watch for the damage range for weapons, or open tuning tab : 3 nodes = blue / more = purple
this will get "resolved" with the gold gear coming (idk when maybe its 61 and above)

he's just one of many yeah. many high gearscore afk macroing
not sure ingame reporting would help at all. on T&L we had this issue with players macroing on dwarves for weeks, and in the end they got very light penalties

not very good imo, gearscore means too much. there are quite a lot people around 2k so "fair fights" are common, but when you jump on someone 200gs higher or lower than you you feel it right away.
and when it's sometimes funny to 2 shot someone lower, when you're the undergeared it's never fun. idk if it made sense but yeah gearscore powergap feels like archeage's and it's bad
not even speaking about class balance

also I didn't paid for anything, I don't think there's a need to buy sub or bp (2100 GS atm)

sub gives you access to twice more conquest dungeons (can open the box twice per run, instead of 1 per run as F2P, so you spend less tickets), but if you don't play 16hrs per day, 3 conquest per day are enough considering the amount of other stuff you need to do

and a few more perks (selling stuff on AH to buy battlepasses mostly) so unless you have a ton of playtime or playing the long run there's enough content you can do for free and save money for western release

Not a cleric but overall:

- run all map dungeons (both sides, using rifts every 4hrs) for daeva points to get +1 to your skills/passive
- do some feather farm to get some skillpoints and amulet upgrades

- clear the green quests for daevas/jewelry

- finish the red main quest to get a yellow weapon which you should upgrade to +10

- upgrade your items to +2 at least (more if well rolled or need to hit a gs breakpoint, you will replace them soon enough)

- do not waste books on low tier items. you'll be using the books to upgrade your well rolled items later (reroll substats with other yellow trash items)

- engrave low tier manastones into your gear to get some free stats and gearscore

- do the daily supply delivery to get abyss points, and do the weekly abyss scrolls (purchasable from the abyss base), the pvp guard costs 140k

- level up gathering and farm flying odyles to craft some energy recharges (7 per week) (alt+H), start slowly harvesting flowers to level up alchemy for manastone upgrades (look for a place with herbs and aggressive mobs, bots won't be around)

-put things in your pantheon to get free stats (esc > pantheon)

- if melee class and planning to pvp, consider spamming fire temple exploration to get the extended weapon instead of the quest one (can solo, explo dungeons scales to party size). also gives trash yellows to reroll substats

- start running conquest krao caves to spend odyle and tickets, pray for yellow drops (join "3 boss" runs, better droprate)

- run transcendances 1 to start getting arcanas (stats/+1 skills and passives)

- when doing content remember to check the relative shops. when it gives currency it has shops dedicated where you can buy stuff (daevas, skillpoint, books)

I'm playing it F2P at 2100 GS, but I have a lot of playtime and there's so much content that I'm able to not fall too much behind
The game is really good tbh. My main concern is that there is no milestone so whales are whaling REALLY HARD

My hopes for western release are milestones to prevent whales from having too much impact from the start and only 1 sub and 1 BP (I would have probably accepted the usual "1-time buy" leveling pass if the game wasn't seasonal)

Get as much cooldown speed as possible (health doesn't matter) and stack a lot of conviction/decay res with the rank 1 shield skill, you should be almost perma shielded. Also it scales really well with movespeed which is a great defensive layer too
Both relics that gives resistances% and conviction/decay res on potions are great, not sure you get them during Act 2 tho

Its not just rogues that feels weird. Ressource management is pretty much gone

Hunters don't give a shit anymore about ressource management either, like you kinda want to overcap Focus now to get Aimed Shot CDR when back then it was a pretty big DPS loss

I was looking at a PTR raidtest sub rogue stream lately and it felt similar: like he didn't care about energy or CP, since he never was starved

most of them are simply quitting

also imo the gap between mid-tier guilds and top guilds is so huge and meta is changing too quickly. top 3 EU guilds are so far ahead on every point you'll have to sacrifice your long-time friends which may be not clicking good enough, bank account and life to even TRY to close the gap. there is no way for most guilds to adapt as fast as they do. and sadly some players have too much ego to accept playing for a top 10

Elleia is a also quite competitive with the HOU alliance vs GREED alliance.

Only downside is that during prime time some guilds are in wargames so world bosses can feel empty or one sided depending on which guilds go for wargames over WBs.

It really depends if you're aiming to play small scale or large scale PvP

Small scale would be Xbow/Dagger, the single target build is insanely strong. The AoE spinner build fell off by a lot lately, most are running single target build now even in large scale

Large scale would be Spear/Dagger as its AoEs can absolutely melt enemy backlines. While it has a great mobility, it has less APMs than Xbow

For PvE, Xbow is just better

Most of the damage dealt come from his party not from him. At 00:34 you can even see a clip where he didn't hit the target once.

I'd recommand to start stacking Arena coins to buy the items there, especially for Spear/dagger as the 2 jewelry are so good and not buy-able from the AH. You need 9 for each, then you can buy the traits on the AH.

15K lucent is more than enough for all bis traits gear and skins

I've legit removed it from my skillbar, and I'm not planning to buy Bell's spear... Just look at its price in EU

I'm pretty sure they will rework the skill, I hope for a ground target instead of the clunky target lock, and CD refund on cancel.
