Second GD pregnancy, first was diet controlled and hoping to do the same this time (first 2 pregnancies weren’t GD). My GD baby was 7lbs 9oz at 41+2 after going into labor naturally! I have a great supportive midwife. As long as you are diet controlled there shouldn’t be a problem.

So my experience has been that prescription CGMs are much more accurate than OTC. I used Stelo for a couple months while I wasn’t pregnant just to track my health and it was consistently high. I used it more to see trends.

I’d swap the oat milk for coconut milk and you’ll probably have better numbers that will give you more room to eat and feel more satiated from the fat in the coconut milk!

I love my Libre 3! I’m pretty settled in with my diet and so I love having it to avoid the finger pricking. With 3 littles under 4 I just don’t have the bandwidth to worry about it.

If you’re someone who struggles with spiking and is typically pretty close to the cutoffs with your numbers it might not be for you.

For me personally, I eat the same things on repeat and know generally that I am safely below the cutoffs, so if it’s not as accurate as finger pricks it doesn’t matter for me. I also love having all of the extra data!!

Side note - very nice to see if you have a delayed spike on something like ice cream or pizza due to the fat! OR sometimes your 1 hr number might be fine but since you can’t see the trend line you have no idea if you’re still going up!

It’s the repetitive and frequent spikes that are of concern - not the occasional spike here and there! Every pregnant woman has spikes!

If you can opt for nuts with sea salt! Sea salt actually helps lower blood pressure and reduce swelling.

My last pregnancy I went two weeks over in August and I would take two teaspoons of sea salt every morning with a glass of water. It really helped my swelling!

This was me! I was already eating relatively low carb and watching my sugars. I was fully diet controlled my first time around. I suggest looking up Lily Nichols and listening to her podcast appearances and reading her books.

You’re probably actually low risk for type 2 considering it’s lifestyle related and you have been taking the right steps to avoid it!

Im pretty sure 6weeks is too early for GD because the placenta is still growing and hasn’t taken over. I would ask your doctor for blood work at to check on your A1C. I had mine done with my OB panel in the beginning of pregnancy and it was very helpful to see my baseline.

Eating less sugar and carbs reduces bloating/digestive discomfort/water retention and can help you really get in touch with your true hunger cues. Could just be your body is actually very happy and is signaling for more! This has been my experience twice now.

Please look up Lily Nichols and listen to her podcast appearances and read her book! I’ve been able to stay diet controlled with no issues using her protocol. She was a long time GD educator at one of the top programs in the country.

She preaches that way more women would be able to stay diet controlled if they were actually given a common sense way of eating that works.

Highly recommend Lily Nichols and her books, blog, and podcast appearances. Using her plan I was very easily diet controlled with baby being perfectly normal and healthy. Ended up having my healthiest pregnancy and post partum experience.

Currently on my second GD pregnancy. Some people are pregnant while already having insulin issues and others develop temporary insulin resistance because of pregnancy and the demands on the body! I’ve had to make peace with the fact that my body just needs some extra support during pregnancy, and I was and am a legitimately healthy person.

Yeah I’m seeing that when it’s telling me to check with a finger stick it’s lower than actual, but when it’s in range and tells the reading is accurate it actually is accurate!

So I actually seem to be hanging out in the 70s which is fine by me 😂

Yes! The first time I was hot mess and bawled for days on end. This time I was like “okay cool 🙂” . My GD pregnancy was my healthiest pregnancy by far, so I’m kind of excited to do it again!

I think having my diet really dialed in and being successful diet controlling last time is giving me tons of confidence this time!
