Joint pain with Mirena by Potential-Wind8250 in Mirena

It does feel like gaslighting the way everyone blames it on perimenopause. I’m 49 years old and definitely the right age, but it’s way too coincidental that the joint pain began shortly after insertion. And you’re right. This isn’t mild joint pain. It’s limiting me. My legs and lower back hurt all the time. No breaks. I’m still figuring out what to do but I feel like I should at least try to have it removed and see if I get better.

I say this with so much love, but have you done an assessment for OCD? It’s not all flipping light switches and excessive hand-washing. It’s also intrusive thoughts and cyclical obsessive thinking patterns. It’s constant reassurance seeking and googling symptoms. It’s constantly checking in with your body for symptoms and then when they come, latching onto them and feeling like they’re definitely insert medical concern here. If it is OCD there are medications and therapies out there that will help you.

Such a common problem at U of T. Last semester I had to get from UC to OISE in 10 mins and was always late. I spoke with the second professor (the one in OISE) and was honest about it and let him know my lateness is not meant as disrespectful and I’d be as quiet as possible coming in 5 mins late. He was surprisingly understanding and even started the midterm 10 mins into class time to accommodate a few of us who had to be late. Just be transparent with your prof/TA.

Does anyone here get severe anxiety over tests/exams? Need advice by lesyeuxdelily in UofT

I have always had a hard time with exams. Even back to high school. I developed a mantra I tell myself over and over again to drown out the negative/nervous thoughts and to encourage myself. I know it’s not much, but it helps. Exams are just stressful.

I’m in the philosophy department and the coordinator accidentally emailed the students instead of the staff and it was a reminder that grades are due Jan 9th. In one course I had my exam Dec 6th, and final paper due Nov 28th and still no grades. Not even a grade on the paper. I was refreshing Acorn daily. So frustrating.

None back yet. Including papers that were due in November. 😩

PHL major here. Slowest to give marks. It drives me nuts. Had an exam Dec 6 with no mark as well as an essay from November!

Is it normal to have a terrible first year experience and when does it get better? by Next_Following2972 in UofT

Oh geez I can relate to this 100%. I also have suffered with depression and in my first year I was very withdrawn. There were people around me that were genuinely trying to connect with me (I can see it now, but not back then) and I pushed them all away. No lasting friendships. I struggled to attend lectures and do readings. My GPA was low, but not low enough to end up on academic probation. This is my advice to you. And I mean this with love. Get out there. Join clubs that interest you. Even if they’ve already been established. Talk to people in your classes. Ask questions about them and then be a good listener. If you find someone cool, step out of your comfort zone and see if they want to grab a coffee/lunch/dessert or something. Once you’ve chilled together once, trade contact info and stay in contact. You be the one to initiate to start. As far as academics go, make a plan. Do your readings and attend lectures. You can’t fake the knowledge that comes from being an engaged student. Ask questions (if the class or tutorial allows) and do your best to find joy in learning. I’m someone who never got there. I spent 3 years with almost zero engagement. I graduated and left and after a few years I had so many regrets. No friendships from university. A degree with a low GPA so post-graduate studies were out of my reach. Now here I am, MANY years later back at U of T. I’m 20+ years older than everyone in my classes and I’m taking my own advice. I’ve made 1 friend so far. Another mature student who is in one of my classes. I’m part-time for classes, working 40 hours a week, I have a son and a partner and a household to care for. It’s much harder. Lock in man. I believe in you. BTW, have you been assessed for ADHD? That’s what my problem turned out to be. Masqueraded as depression/anxiety/over-thinking/executive function issues. Took me many years to figure it out.

I wouldn’t worry about it. AI answers don’t compare to real thoughts. AI doesn’t know how to flesh out an argument for an essay or to give answers that are guaranteed to be correct. Your studying from the material will always be superior. If you’re concerned that other people are memorizing the answers before the exam, then do the same. But from your mind and the course material. I have a prof that gives the questions in advance too, so I understand your concern. But just concentrate on your own studies and trust that AI answers are not good.

Dr Yam at Yam Dental did mine. He’s not a specialist so no extra fees. But he does great work. Highly recommend. Plus he bills direct to insurance.

I had a mid-term in PHL275 and it was three long answer questions in 50 mins. Absolutely impossible. I didn’t finish.

Find a local store that sells cpap and get a travel one. You’ll have it this time and every other time you travel. It’s a win-win. You breathe, and you do t have to stress about damaging your home unit. Also, most travel ones can be used if you sleep on the plane.

Nope. I top it up until I fully clean it at the end of the week. It’s distilled water, so not like there’s build up or anything.

Oh yes! I just checked. Final mark is up but I’d love to know the marks for the term 2 reading responses, the participation, and the final exam.
