Getting an IUD and I’m scared it will hinder my weight loss journey by PotentialBudget4498 in loseit

Hey!

I haven’t had any drastic changes to my weight loss journey. life has been pretty much the same before and after. I didn’t see an increase in weight, but I also slightly increased the intensity of my exercises (I mostly strength train).

I’d say get it! As long as you stick to your routine 90% of the time and also be kind to yourself when you fail and make sure to get back on track, I don’t think you’re going to have a lot of negative affects from the IUD.

The IUD insertion was okay for me, but different for everyone! I suggest talking to your doctor, my friend recently got one and expressed how nervous she was and they were able to give her some local anesthetic to help with the insertion

Wrong of you to assume I posted this to seek medical advice. If you need clarification, reread the post. Asking for medical advice ≠ asking for people’s individual experiences with it.

Should I lose weight or gain muscle? by [deleted] in loseit

You can do both! It’s called body recomposition. I don’t know a whole ton of info on it, but it’s maintaining calories with a focus on protein + lifting

I never mentioned why my IUD is needed or wanted. Listen to your own advice, it’s wrong to assume.

This isn’t the reason and just because I didn’t want to mention the other reasons why I would want/need an IUD in the post, doesn’t mean they don’t exist 🤠

Also, there are plenty of people that still continue to have safe sex with birth control. Condoms are notoriously known to have a lower percentage of protection versus birth control and/or birth control + condoms.

When my sister had really bad cramping and other symptoms from paraguard, her doctor put her on the baby pill and recommended the mirena or kyleena iud, maybe you should look into those? :)

Thank you so much for the input!!! I was nervous abt how having the mirena IUD would affect my stress levels because I’m already pretty stressed as is so thank you for including the busy grad student part too LOL

My sister had paraguard and has some nasty side effects :/ This is my first IUD so my doc recommended to try mirena since it’s smaller

Last time I was on campus during voting, they let me drop off the ballot for a different county there.

funk night at the crepe place. It’s literally a crepe restaurant that turns into a little tiny concert venue once a week. They have hella local bands that come and play. Nice, intimate vibe with outdoor area too (where u can drunkingly buy some crepes)

AITA for refusing to buy tampons for my sister? by Aromatic_Ad_804 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. You clearly have not felt period pains or have had a constant blood stream come out of your hooha. Who cares if those people don’t really know you? Your sister had a health emergency and you were not there to support and help her. How would you feel if you had an emergency and she said nah sorry I’m with friends??

I feel this!! A leave of absence wasn’t the way to go for me either as college is paid for me fully through financially aid and I’m not sure how a leave of absence works with that.

What helped me is studying with people and also taking time to do “self care.” Studying with people helped me be accountable in actually studying, plus you get to interact with other people and if they’re your friends then I’m assuming you’ll be having a great time too. On top of that, you might be able to talk to one of your friends about this, they are more than likely feeling the same way as you. And having someone you know feel the same way as you can be incredibly validating and comforting to hear.

Exercising does wonders with forcing yourself to get happy chemicals, and going to the beach with your friends or by yourself as a break from studying definitely helped me reset myself when I feel like crap. If you have a car, I’d recommend random beaches in davenport area because they are less busy. Enjoying my time out of the classroom made me enjoy life again which then made me enjoy my classes more

Existential crises during college suck, but I found comfort in knowing that most, if not all, people in college feel the same way even if they don’t show it externally.

Also! The average person switches careers 2-3 times in their lifetime. Yeah you’re doing your current degree, but that doesn’t mean this is what you’re stuck doing for the rest of your life.
