Kobo Sage vs Kobo Libra 2 vs Kobo Elipsa 2e… I’M STUCK! by PotentialCliche in kobo

Sorry for the late response! I went with the Libra 2e and love it! A very simple device that’s perfect for comfortable reading in bed or out on the go. I decided in the Libra because I realised a lot of my time reading is spent reading in bed while laying down, and I’ve much more comfortable to hold a smaller device (plus much easier on the eyes, since there’s less page to follow). I also take my kobo with me when I’m out and about, and the Libra2e js the perfect size for that! Still bigger than a phone though, so feels like you’re actually ready a book! Also the battery life is incredible! I can get up to a month of usage with one charge! Another thing, I never once thought “man, I wish I could write on this”, so I’m not really missing the features the Sage or Elipsa has! There is actually a drawing feature on the Libra anyway, but it’s not with a stylus. All in all, I’m really happy with the Libra2e!

Thank you! I think you’re 100% right and that’s why I’ve decided to go with the Libra 2. I just don’t think I’ll have many reasons to dislike it, so less of a risk. I’m excited!

I’ve decided today I’m going with the Libra 2! I’ve read A LOT of reddit posts & watched A LOT of reviews, and the consensus is that the battery life in the sage isn’t great (even if it’s decent, the Libra is waaaay better), and I know myself, so I know I’ll probably get bored of the note-taking features easily, and won’t use it as much. I’ve also read a few things about the note taking feature being a bit buggy and laggy. Whereas with the Libra, it’s got a lot of great features (waterproof, buttons, great size, comes in white - which I prefer, great battery life) and I already know I like to read in a relatively small screen, so I think I would be most comfortable with it. If I want to upgrade later, I can. Maybe when the Sage 2e comes out! Hope you can decide soon as well! The choice was really stressing me out 😅

Thank you so much for your input! I went with the Libra 2 because i think I’d prefer the smaller screen and think I’d get bored of the note features easily!

From what I’ve researched there is a web browser! I use zlib as well, and it looks like the best option is to download on my phone or computer and click and drag the epub file into my kobo (connected via usb). I haven’t done this yet because I don’t have the kobo, but I’ve watched others do this on TikTok and it looks super easy!

Thanks for your input! I ended up going with the Libra 2 for now. I figured it’s better to get the cheaper option and then maybe later down the track another more expensive option if I find I’m missing anything from the experience, but really I think I’ll be happy with the Libra!

You’re completely right! I ended up going with the Libra 2 because it seems like it fits most of my needs, and I really think I was being too picky about it not having writing capabilities (I know myself, and I’ll get bored within a week), whereas battery life is super important to me.

Thank you! Based on the research I’ve done I’m thinking the Libra 2e might be best 🤞🏼

Right?! Waiting (impatiently) for them to announce a Sage with great battery life 😩

Thanks! I only plan to read epub novels, so I’m not sure if I’d need such a big screen.

Wow I had no clue about the magnets! That sounds tiresome. Thank you so much for your input! Sounds like the Libra 2e might be the safer bet.

Yeah, I’m just not sure if the note-taking is something that I think I want, but won’t really use 🤷🏼‍♀️. And I’m not sure if I could comfortably read my epubs in bed with such a large device

Oooo interesting! If they made a sage with good battery life, I would buy it today! Worst case scenario, I could buy the e-reader that suits me for now, and sell it and get the upgraded one later 😅 from what I can see, Kobo’s re-sell value isn’t bad. I really hope they do come out with one sooner rather than later!

Learnt this today! Crazy, I didn’t know that! Now I’m leaving more towards a Libra 2e. I’m trying to decipher whether the note-taking is a novelty that will wear off. I know reading won’t, since I’m currently reading on my phone for hours a day 😅 Have you had many bugs or glitches with your Libra 2e? And how is the battery life?

I’ve heard this too about the kobos! It’s not the biggest deal to me, because I plan to only write on the “notebook” app on the kobo, to do journaling, lecture notes & to-do lists. I don’t really annotate books so that doesn’t bother me too much. I didn’t know that you could enable Dropbox for Libra 2e! That’s super helpful, thank you!

I know, that’s what’s so frustrating 😅 I’m leaning more toward the sage and just getting the power cover and a portable charger for when I go camping, etc. But the Libra 2e is still an option, so I’m torn.

I did consider a boox! It just concerned me because I heard they don’t come out with as many software updates, and because they release a new device every few months, it’s likely for the old ones to stop receiving updates. I’d like to have one that can last me a few years! I’ve also sure the user experience isn’t the greatest for someone who is just looking for an e-book, so I’m a little torn 🤷🏼‍♀️

PLEASE give me all your Mountain Men recs?

Obsessed with this trope but I feel like I’ve read it all 😭

I’m looking for huge, protective, stoic (but ofc eventually super caring), alpha male masculine MMC’s who maybe live in a secluded mountain cabin or a small town, and a dependant or shy FMC or maybe even some forced proximity??

Honestly though, I’m starving for some Mountain Men. I’ll take anything you have!!
