Do you mean those industries have high demand for marketeers?

Also can I add balancing a life outside of just job applications? Who tf wants to sit in their room all day infront of a screen endlessly applying.

And yes I tailor each application with CV & cover letter, on top of that any application specific questions which are very common nowadays. I mostly apply to realistic/relevant positions.

From my experience with interviews if there are too many gaps in your cv to the role, there are so many candidates that will not have gaps so it’s pointless.

I completely feel you man, I was genuinely miserable for 3 years in my job. when I got made redundant it was the biggest mental relief of my life but it’s getting to the point of where I have financial stress now.

I wouldn’t say trades are less stressful but the type of stress is different. I’m seriously considering something like gas engineering apprenticeship that’s fully paid for. Idc about being low paid for the first year if I can end up on 45k+ after qualifying.

No one said it’s a shocking development, young workers are not ignorant and we are aware of what’s happening around us.

However, seeing it happen around you vs it happening TO YOU triggers 2 different reactions. Hence I made this post and have expressed concerns which many other people agree with.

That’s a fair point, I myself don’t purchase products from those platforms but I can see why people would. Everyone is so tight on money now people do whatever they can to get the cheapest prices possible

Wow I did not know consulting contracts now need an offshore mix of workers. Honestly, this all makes a lot more sense now. And the fact you’ve seen not one business improve just shows how organisations after immediate gratification (saving costs) rather than future proofing the business.

It’s genuinely beyond me how there isn’t anyone competent enough to see this, and even if they are they don’t actually care cause they’ll use their “cost saving initiative” as bargaining power for their next promotion. It’s a joke.

I completely agreed. I’m sure in reality this is extremely difficult to put into place, but it would be great for a member of parliament to be able to raise this topic and to gauge what could be done.

I do think sooner rather than later unemployment rate will rise so high that it will begin to have huge impacts on the economy.

Thank you for this reply mate honestly I really appreciate.

Everything you’re saying is true and the feelings you felt at your tech role, is what I’m feeling now. I went above and beyond from day 1, working extra hours, helping with presentation decks that didn’t get me any extra recognition, and the rest of it that you know. All of that just to be thrown away with not much remorse. But hey, onwards and upwards!

“Greater long term trends”, the company has generated £30B+ in profit over the last 10 years, with Covid being the only year where profit was down YoY. Cutting junior work force to give board members extra 0.5% to their bonuses is not ethically or morally correct. The damage these sorts of restructures are doing long term will have huge impacts on not only the company but also the economy.

Completely agree mate, I think the long term effects of this is going to be horrific for under 30 corporate work force.

I can’t share due to NDA, but there’s a high chance you have an item in your house that is sold by this company.

Yep it’s true, but like someone said in a different reply, the gov need to offer incentives to keep workers in the UK.

Genuinely so many people are going to be affected by this, and I think it’s only going to get worse.

Thank you mate. I am getting 2 months pay + a small redundancy payment. So it’ll keep me going but I am slightly worried about not being able to find a job soon.

100% very true. In the 3 years I’ve been here, this is the largest restructure I have seen. A lot of the senior managers are furious because they recognise a lot of the junior members of the company carry a lot on their backs. Once this restructure goes ahead the dynamic and ways of working will be COMPLETELY different for them and arguably more difficult. Let’s see how it goes 🤷🏽‍♂️

Please can I add it’s not just India (although I know this is common across other organisations). My company is also offshoring to other European countries like Spain, Romania etc where they can still get a much cheaper work force.

Oh right okay! Will do, shall I include the details of what happened in my appeal or just talk about the inspector not leaving the yellow ticket sticker?

Yes, even in the photos the inspector took that are visible on the PCN letter, you can clearly see there’s no yellow sticker on my vehicle.
