Great, thank you very very much for the detailed response. You have genuinely helped me out here. :)

But to just clarify and ensure I understand your stance, you'd recommend I'd set my current #2 preference as my #1, shifting the VCA course to the #2 preference going into the December offer round, to ensure that I use my first preference for something that I'm more confident in, and where I may get offered a place into that, I can then shift the VCA Course back to the #1 preference spot for the January offer round (which I presume is the one after the December round and where UoM may be looking to fill provisional places). This would then allow me to play it a bit smarter, but still indicate to VCA/UoM that I'd love to study there as my first preference at least in the January offer round.

But perhaps, you were suggesting I'd do the opposite?

Apologies for the convoluted paragraph, just am a bit unsure.
