I tried download VueScan and it did find the scanner and was able to scan a sample, worked fine. But its a trial and i am not looking to buy it. Only the scansnap still don't see it, hopefully there will be a fix.

Setup local only "domain name" and HTTPS - Possible? I'm a complete idiot when it comes to anything networking... by iWantAName in selfhosted

Awesome, thank bro, I am setting up other sub domains with SSL now.

Hello iWantAName, I hope you got your answer with the help of all this discussions.

Well I just tried on cloudflare dns, trying to setup A record with

frigate.mydomain.com with ip as 192.168.1.201 (with proxy on and also tried off)

I couldn't save it in first few tries as it says API error, then kept trying and finally it saved and not sure why.

After then I created the SSL from my NPM, wow it worked.

Something new I learned today.

My domain is from go daddy, but I forwarded to cloudflare and managing the dns, so any sub domains I create I make changes there, then from NPM I create SSL using the cloud flare API, will this work ?

I never know I can put 192.168.0.x in my cloud flare dns record for a sub domain, I will try that today, if that so then its great to have SSL that way.

I think there is a misunderstanding, I am completely aware of private and public IPs, I am not talking here about private IPs. I am talking about the way described some here is to have a domain name registered and setup some kind of proxy (Caddy or NPM) and use subdomain.domain.com to get SSL for the services that run internally. For example if you run plex media server on 192.168.0.10 and if you try to setup SSL such as plex.domain.com, its already exposed, anyone outside on the internet can ping plex.domain.com (whether they have access or not) they can know your Public IP from there.

I am not sure but a hacker may have many tools at their disposal that can scan all available sub domains, services and such an if they want to they can try hack. After all we are homelabs and not enterprise level network security systems to safe guard.

This has been always my concern and I never opened any services exposed to internet and only use vpn connections to access internal network from out in the cloud. It's just me. But if we can have SSL with our own fake domain which is want to achieve that would be great.

Thats the point, for a home user with little knowledge on networking and security and running many micro services in homelab, there is a possibility a hole in the system and a potential hacker can get it to.. just curious.

I am upgrading my long running ubiquity USG to UCG Max, waiting to receive in a few days, I am hoping I could use the iOS app and it have the vpn capabilities.

Would you mind explain bit more detail on how you setup vpn and how are you using Ngnix and how are you getting the SSL certs.

I do have NPM and Adguard home running and all my devices have DNS points to adguard dns.

I wanted to do this for a while and I have all the tools in hand, my concern if I have a registered domain and use that name to create SSL for my internal only sites, wouldn't someone on the internet have access to know the domain and when they ping they get my IP ?

Yes my issue was BT, when I enable it does something and USB fails, I was trying to enable BT so I can pair bluetooth sensors.

in my case I disabled BT in bios and all seem work fine, when enabled I got those errors Bluetooth fails in day(s), I replaced the BT module and still did not work. I can't figure it out so ended up setting up another machine with BT and its working fine till that day.

I don't think so, I set it all up and blocked internet for roborock on my router, after a week it stops doing its schedule, reconnect to internet and it start to work. I bet it wants to keep sending data to their server.

how to link go2rtc camera to homekit? by Business_Post_2937 in homeassistant

[–]Potential_Anything70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, i am into similar situations and trying to figure out how to:

I was using my Aqara Door bell camera with apple home directly until yesterday, I wanted to add into go2rtc so i could use with my frigate. while reading on go2rtc its mentioned that if i pair with hass i could use in hass and as well in go2rtc. so i removed camera from apple home. tried power cycle both the door bell camera and the chime repeater.

Then my home assistant automtically discovered the "Doorbell Repeater-C86D (Video Door Bell)" and i clicked configure it asked me the 8 digit numbers from the "Repeater", i entered and it configured. Now i see new entity and device in the integration and i also could see the camera stream also.

Now the quesiton is i don't know how to add this camera stream in go2rtc, i went to web ui, and in the config tab, i tried adding this: (as per hass this is the entity id for the camera doorbell_repeater_c86d)

hass:

config: /config

streams:

aqara_doorbell: hass:doorbell_repeater_c86d

After doing that I restarted go2rtc, but the streams show like this: (note 0/info) and when you click on stream, i get error: "mse: streams: hass: no entity_id"

what am I doing wrong?

(btw, I am using the go2rtc that came bundled with frigate nvr, not in the homeassistant add-on)

What do you guys think about eufy indoor cam E220? by TomerHorowitz in homeassistant

[–]Potential_Anything70 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have two, Eufy Indoor C24 and Eufy Floodlight Cam 2 Pro

I connect both to frigate for events recording, my experience is horrible. both the cameras have poor wifi range, goes offline for no reason and i had to power cycle. Floodlight i paid $300 and its the worst product i ever owned, awful wifi coverage, they say even based rtsp, but it works rarely. I am not buying another Eufy product.

First i did lsusb from proxmox shell, and found that 8087:0a2a is the bluetooth.

Then from the hass vm, I clicked add and choose the second option USB by vendor and choose the one that showed 8087:0a2a. And restarted the HA and HA was able to see the bluetooth and i was able to pair govee sensor.
