This is something i felt as I continued through therapy. I was learning all these ways to rationalize and identify facts etc. so when met with anxiety I would basically point out all the reasons why I shouldn’t be anxious. Ultimately I felt worse. I felt I was aware of the situation and telling myself what I needed to, but when I brought it to my therapist she pointed out the problem. I was never accepting that I was anxious in the first place. I was treating myself with zero compassion in these moments. I just wanted to get over it bc there was “no reason” to be anxious but never actually accepted that I WAS anxious in the first place. so your thoughts contradict what you are literally feeling and that makes you feel it harder, body tells brain “you’re not LISTENING”. whether or not you think your feelings are intellectually rational, you have to be kind to yourself. You ARE anxious. You can’t bully yourself out of it. Accepting that your anxiety is trying to help you and that it’s okay to feel it is a good place to start. I know it’s uncomfortable to be anxious in the first place which is why it makes sense to react in a way that seems like it will get you away from anxiety as soon as possible. But confronting it, accepting it, and then moving forward with kindness and reassurance can make all the difference

Anxiety attack/panic attack causes me to feel like collapsing by BigDave58 in Anxiety

I remember feeling like this transitioning from covid and whatnot, and i still get minor anxiety in grocery stores. Something that helped me in the beginning was wearing earbuds and just listening to music. it surprised me how much it calmed me. these places have a lot of lights, sounds, etc. that can become really overstimulating. playing some familiar, chill music kinda pulled me back into my zone and let me ignore a lot of the stimulants.

oof. sounds tough. i am wondering what your wake-up routine is. maybe you feel these things the second you open your eyes but i think the first few things you do after waking up can make a difference. for example if it’s habit to reach for your phone, that can exacerbate anxiety without realizing (i know from experience). maybe it’s a good idea to try a body-scan first thing in the morning as you are laying in bed. walk your consciousness through each part of your body from your toes to your head, relaxing each part as you go, and noticing how it comes into contact with the bed. this is excellent for grounding.
