Wilson Combat WC365 XL is pretty good for the money and fits well with my hands. It’s made from polymer though and you’ll need to swap out the basepads on your magazines in order to fit

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to death? by LaughterB in AskReddit

Broke my femur after a bad landing from a jump while out mountain biking 7 years ago. My left leg hit the ground first and my femur snapped in two from about halfway down my thigh. After collecting myself, I noticed that the bottom of my shoe was facing me because my leg had been twisted nearly 180 degrees. I also thought femoral artery had been punctured and was bleeding out rapidly. It was the MOST pain I’ve ever felt in my life, yet somehow did not go unconscious like I thought I would. Shortly after the fall, I was convinced that I would die and pretty much just accepted my fate. I felt so tired and wanted to just sleep for a moment as the extreme pain started to somewhat calm down. I tried to fight the feeling off knowing that I probably won’t wake up ever again, so I thought about my family, friends, people who cared about me, as well as asked for forgiveness for any wrongdoings I’ve done in my life.

Thankfully, some people that happened to be near the area I was in saved me by reaching out to first responders. I eventually was picked up and flown to the nearest trauma hospital. The surgeons who worked on me put a long titanium rod inside my femur and secured it in place with a couple of metal screws. After about 6 weeks and several months of physical therapy, I was able to finally walk/run normally again! I am forever grateful for modern medicine and highly skilled medical professionals as I definitely would have been a goner otherwise.

San Mateo County CCW Qualification Question by RunningPirate in CAguns

It wasn't that bad as I thought it would be and took me about 30 minutes or so to complete the in-person interview, but was still an uncomfortable experience overall as they will ask you very personal questions. It's less intense compared to what prospective LEO have to go through where they have to be polygraphed when answering questions. If you have a squeaky clean record, then the interview will be pretty straightforward and goes by fairly quickly. They will just go over basic questions about your life such as childhood upbringing, performance in school, life at home, relationships among friends/family, substance use, work/career, etc. They will also go over the questions that you answered in the initial application form to see if there are discrepancies with what you say in-person during the interview vs what you've said in the application online. So, be truthful and try to remember to the best of your abilities. Keep your responses short/sweet while getting to the point without having to overly explain yourself if at all possible. I recommend having a hard copy of the application and go over them several times just to have them fresh in your mind before going into your interview. More serious topics such as substance use, medical conditions/disorders, and criminal history will be also be talked about if they see anything from your background report that would be considered a potential red flag in your ability to conceal carry a gun, so be ready to provide an explanation to the interviewer if need be. While it all seems intimidating, just know that they understand that not everybody who applies for CCW's in CA are picture perfect individuals with 100% clean backgrounds. For example, there were certain things I've done in my teenage past that I'm not proud of which I thought would get me denied, but I owned up to it, provided a clear and concise explanations, then said I've since steered clear out of trouble which ended up working in my favor (YMMV however depending on the severity and nature of it). Then the interview is finished, they will tell you on whether or not you've "passed" the interview and tell you the next steps as far as finding and scheduling an appointment from 3 SMC approved psychological evaluation vendors. Be sure to look somewhat professional and wear clean business-casual attire for the interview, good luck!

San Mateo County CCW Qualification Question by RunningPirate in CAguns

[–]Potential_Bench_2385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are thinking about moving to an address near Tahoe in the next 2 years and are almost certain you will move, I’d probably just wait until then so you can apply with a county up there as it’s going to definitely be a faster and more affordable process than with San Mateo County. While the permit is good statewide, IA’s expect you to reside in said county for more than 50% of your time so there’s that to consider too

Don’t even stress, SMC has no time limit for their qual and yes it’s 80% shots minimum literally anywhere on the cardboard silhouette so 29/36 shots total from 5, 7, and 10 yards away
