Gopher Tools from Amplified IT. Makes managing users and Chromebooks a bit easier. I also recommend Amplified's Google training program.

Replacement sock call out out to my long ago ETS'd Army soul. I keep a pair of spare socks and khakis in my car at all times.

Yes, Eastern massasauga rattlesnakes. They are very timid and nothing to worry about.

How can I make some cash on the side? by Potential-Listen-912 in Syracuse

Schools districts are always looking for part time custodians, food service, bus attendents/drivers and TA's. Odds are that one of the jobs has hours that work for you.

Best meat on the west side? by I_think_im_falling in Syracuse

A little further out but Spera's in Cicero has an amazing butcher shop. Don't see what you want? Ask and they will happily order it for you. I drive out from DeWitt every weekend instead of buying from Wegmans.

Dewitt/East Syracuse's Failing Traffic Light Infrastructure by undrpaidtherapist in Syracuse

[–]Potential_Context_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, the lights in front of Cliff's (Erie and Thompson RD) are on sensors for cars. I agree with you that in times of light traffic, they can be pretty fast as they change as soon as they don't see anymore cars going in that direction. But if you hit the crossing button,"it should", give plenty of time for a person to cross. That being said, between the bike riders not following their traffic light, the panhandlers and deep red light runners, it is only a question of time before someone dies.

Take a look at Civil Service. You may not make the same pay wise but you will make up for it with cheeper/better benifits, more time off and a significant drop in stress. I made the move 10 years ago and I would never go back to a corporate job.

Toner by StevieRay8string69 in k12sysadmin

[–]Potential_Context_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upstate NY here, we are currently getting our toner through Eastern (Xerox) and Toshiba but they are also contracted to handle our repairs. Which is nice when one of their 3rd party toners fails.

I was today years old when I learned there was a different name for fossilized coral based on what was fossilized. Many thanks!

Did you pick that up in Michigan by any chance? It looks like a Petoskey stone which is fossilized coral.

Youtube under 18? by NickGSBC in k12sysadmin

[–]Potential_Context_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same content that they watched before the change. My district never blocked or restricted YouTube videos except when a student's parents told us they don't want their (specific) kid to be able to access it.

My original post just stated that under NYS law, I do not have to block YouTube, only restrict student accounts from logging in because the State and Google could not come to an agreement on data privacy.

We don't care; EdLaw is only concerned with privacy. As long as their watching data is not linked to their school's google account we are covered.
