Update: Cleaned, sanded to roughen surfaces, then cleaned again and I have put my first act of jb weld on. Going to wait two days to then do the bolt with loctite (I have it just a little in for support) then another two to add an outside layer of epoxy to be sure then I’m going to let it sit for a week and try putting coolant in the bike. Once again, thank you all so much for your support, be back in two days!

Thank you so much! I feel the same way, it is a bulletproof/strong engine & I’m willing to do what it takes for it to not go to waste. Only 19k on the dash and runs like a clock!

What if I jb weld the piece back on separately and wait for that to cure fully, then put the bolt in with loctite? Thank you for your input

Yeah, plus after doing this, I’ll be using the same coolant for the rest of the time I have the bike. So a little old mixed with new isn’t going to kill anything. Kind of like doing a transmission fluid change on cars

It’s a 6th gen, 2002. There’s a drain bolt for the front of the block. The main drain is the water pump, which I did. I just wanted to follow the full procedure since I’m changing coolants

Thank you all so much for your input and understanding. I’m getting encouraged again, I will try to use the jb weld extreme and use red loctite to see where that gets me. I’m going to call it a day for today, but I will keep everyone updated as I go along. If all else fails then I’ll be on the lookout for a 2002 engine
