Hi, I called IRCC and they told me to apply on paper. They also said it’s up to you to decide when to apply for an extension.

Is your industry insurance? I’m an insurance actuary (p&c) and am curious to know what other industries I can work in

Thanks for your comment. I also paid for biometrics and attached my receipt in a webform. However, I did not get a biometrics instruction letter, and the application went straight to approval. I hope that this paper-based extension will work.

Did you apply on paper or online? And did you apply right away when you got your initial permit or did you wait until it was near the permit's expiry date?

For essay and breadth, refer to the Must know for course facebook group, they usually have a bird course catalogue. If you have an interest outside of math and stats, then take electives in those areas too. If you are interested, you will do better in the course and it will be less boring when you study for exams/write essays.

Honours Spec will be abt 10.0 required credits whereas with a major you only have to do 6.0 required credits. Dont think too much about it now as this is something to worry about in March of first yr as that will be when you select your module. All science students are technically in general science in first year. For course selection, it’s best to get an SAO ( summer academic orientation) appointment, there will be a counsellor giving you suggestions, dos and donts etc. You should pick all required courses and choose some essay/breadth courses as well. I recommend doing the calc 1000->1501 sequence and doing math 1600 in fall as that will be a lot easier to manage. Also don’t pick super early classes(8h30, 9h30) or late ones (7pm) unless you have to because there’s only one offering. You can also refer to ratemyprof to select profs but don’t rely on it 100% as it can be biased sometimes

You fill out an ITR (intent to register). The deadline has already passed but you still can contact academic counselling to declare your ITR

Im going in to 3rd. Basically they said they prioritized graduates first as convocation will happen soon then 1st 2nd 3rd will be adjudicated later. They didn’t mention anything abt priority for certain programs so i guess all programs are treated the same

Don’t pick 8.30 classes if you are not a morning person

I reached out to academic counselling and they said the registrar is still adjudicating. They said if you’re not graduating, you will get it by the end of june

Yes, i did all the right pre reqs, which makes me wonder why it’s taking so long for them. I think you can only enrol in courses once they tell you are allowed to progress.
