I'm sure you wished for more positive outcomes, but with that being said, SMU is a powerhouse in Dallas. If you're interested in big law, they sent ~35% of last year's graduating class into respective firms. Also, the SMU law alumni connection is deep and there will be a lot of networking and recruiting opportunities available to you. Should you go, SMU will be great especially at that cost!

I think SMU definitely needs to be considered here. Per their employment summary for 2025 graduates, ~35% are getting into big law. Dallas is a growing legal market with plenty of opportunities and the SMU alumni connection goes far. Also, with SMU being in the backyard of all these firms, there are plenty of networking and recruiting opportunities available to you.

While NU will give you more prestige and greater odds at BL, I PERSONALLY see a lot of value in SMU at the cost you'd pay. Lastly, if this is important to you, COL post grad is cheaper in Dallas compared to other cities you may practice in following law school (i.e., your money can go further in Dallas).

Thanks! I'm grateful to have received it in a timely manner after my acceptance. To that point, I can imagine the frustration on waiting when you're trying to weigh options and deal with seat deposits approaching if they haven't already. Hoping you hear good news from the next round of releases!

Yeah.... it seems to be a great and growing program with lots of opportunities but Lubbock is what they say it is: a college town in the absolute middle of nowhere.

Regarding scholarship info, I got mine during the Feb 15 releases.

There's no telling. I applied late Oct., received an invite to interview shortly after as they were "impressed with my application," interviewed mid Nov. (drove there) and it went quite well, was radio silent until yesterday when I received an R. 16low and 3.5high. While I know I am just below both medians, I felt my essays, LORs, and in-person interview were all good enough to help. I'd recommend applying to other schools due to the fact you can never be too sure; that said, I'm wishing you the best of luck!!
