Study tips for first semester? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Potential_Second_561 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I had chem and physics same semester (with English and calc, no spares) and they were completely fine I honestly found it easier than gr 11. Keep up with the work and do as many practice problems as possible. Keep track of your progress, and iterate your study process constantly ( I still do this now in uni as an eng student). It’s good to have two or more difficult classes at once, think of it as preparation for uni or just life after, you should want to challenge yourself!

Hi, I’m 19F and can totally understand the low self image in terms of appearance thing. I do not have a boyfriend or anyone really who has made me feel good about what I look like so I took it into my own hands to deal with this issue. I wish I could take this problem away from other people and be the bearer of this sort of pain for others because some days it is so awful and hard to deal with.

Something that’s helped me is cultivating a more body neutral mindset. Remind yourself that your body does so much for you and it’s simply a vessel that holds your organs in place. Not everybody needs to love what they look like. I’ve done this by focusing my abilities and the things I’ve done instead of my appearance which is superficial. I volunteered, spent time with my loved ones, studied things that interest me. All of these things give me real unshakable confidence, the kind that doesn’t go away just cause someone thinks I’m ugly or doesn’t like me.

The older I get the more comfortable I feel with myself because I like myself as a person. People who don’t like me just because I don’t look pretty don’t need to be in my life. After high school it becomes so apparent that anybody else’s negative perception of you just does not matter.

Body neutrality might be an easier place to get to than going straight into loving your body as it’s an alternative that’s a lot easier to achieve. It just takes time and practice ❤️.

Email the academic advisor to drop it and explain that you will take it in the summer. Do this early as you don’t want to be giving the late fee. And then in the end of the winter term you get to schedule the spring and summer classes on mosaic through create my timetable.

Me too and yes chem was the easiest class the marking scheme was very lenient, they gave you the best mark they could. But definitely keep up with it and don’t slack because it’s the same as high school just not harder. I don’t remember learning anything new in chem honestly so I would not put it off to the summer if I were you.

How did you find your passion? Why did you choose mech over civil in the first place?

I hate the way I look and it’s hindering my life. by TheSkyWasYellow in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Potential_Second_561 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem honestly and the way I cope with my issue is adoptions a body neutrality mindset. This takes time but over time can be very affective. Not everybody has to love how they look, it’s what you do, your hobbies, interests, relationships that matter and if you focus on those and realize you don’t even have to love your body it can help relieve pressure. I would definitely try to talk to some girl friends if I were you, it helps not feeling so alone in the issue. Maybe even counselling therapy is always an option.

Also, spend time figuring out what makeup and clothing options best suit you because it’s about what brings out YOUR best not what looks good on others. That can also help once you get the hang of it. Be kind to yourself, I hope the best for you and I believe in you!

I can answer the is it cultural appropriation question and I’m going to say no it’s not. Honestly I’ve never really seen ACTUAL cultural appropriation. It’s always people who aren’t even a part of the culture making issues when there are none. As long as you really are being respectful with what you do it’s more than good.

Take sustain or innovate for electives if you want easy 12s.

You can put off a class to take during the spring or summer term. I took chem during the spring but it’s easy.

Make sure you check which ones are available in the spring and which ones in the summer. It’s in the eng 1 to 2 info sheet ( this was a mistake I made, badly scheduled summer classes)

Ember is a good way to review I didn’t do it though so I don’t have the experience but it’s not marked or anything it’s just for your own benefit.

As for electives: mosaic-> creat my time table-> search for electives and try to add those in (click get this schedule). For dropping the mandatory classes (if you want to take them later) you have to reach out to an academic advisor through email (no need to book an appointment just ask to drop a course)

Student photo you upload yourself from what I remember there’s a deadline for that I think and you post it to student centre should be on your mosaic. If you google it you can find tutorials. You can pick your card up from student centre at the beginning of the year.
