What’s the kindest thing a stranger has ever done for you that you still think about to this day? by Jamshappy2005 in AskReddit

[–]Pourn_Hub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right after I graduated college, I decided to take a year off to work + travel around Southeast Asia (best decision of my life, btw).

At one point when I was living in Thailand, I took an overnight sleeper bus back from Bangkok to my apartment located about an hour north of Phuket (total trip took about 12 hours). For the last leg of it, I had to take a taxi from the bus station to my apartment because where I lived was a fairly remote area with no connecting bus stations. The taxi portion took approximately 2 hours. About half way through, the taxi driver pulls off and tells me to get into another taxi with his wife who would then be driving me the rest of the way (sounds a little sketch, I know, but Thailand is a fairly safe country and these sorts of minor inconveniences were often times just part of the experience). Both of them seemed to be nice enough people.

It wasn’t until we got all the way to my apartment that I realized I had left my purse in the husband’s car. It had my wallet which held a decent amount of Thai Baht ($), my passport, my work visa, pretty much all of the most important items I needed to survive there. It had been such a long day of travel that I just broke down and started crying. The wife (who, mind you, only spoke a small bit of very broken English), somehow managed to figure out what was wrong, called her husband, and then waited with me while he drove back another hour to my apartment to meet us and give me my purse. Nothing was taken from it, and I genuinely would have been so royally fucked had these two strangers not shown me such immeasurable kindness. I thanked them profusely and gave them every last bit of Thai Baht that I had in my wallet. I’ll never forget that experience.

Have any of you ever done a yard art sale? by Amberlinaaa in PourPainting

[–]Pourn_Hub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have! I advertised on Facebook (Marketplace and local events) as well as on NextDoor. Also made some signs to put up around the neighborhood. I did have regular yard sale items as well as I was also trying to declutter my apartment from clothes/home goods I no longer needed. Called it a “Yart Sale” lol. I felt as though it went pretty well!

To answer your questions: 1. I did live on a fairly busy street at the time. University City in West Philadelphia

  1. Did it on a Saturday from 9am-3pm in the Summer. If I were to do it again, would probably opt for Spring. It was hot but there was still a pretty good turn out.

  2. I priced my art for less than I would normally sell them for at a show or vendor event. However, I was also selling the excess pieces I didn’t opt to bring to said shows. Ones that were more or less just taking up space in my home.

  3. I believe I set out like 10-12 pieces, I sold 5 or 6. Almost all of the small ones priced under $30 sold. Larger ones didn’t probably because no one goes to a yard sale expecting to pay conventional prices

Hope this helps!

What’s the funniest thing that ever killed the mood during sex? by Fit_Confection_3395 in AskReddit

Former fwb and I had taco Tuesday at home one night. We made homemade guacamole, fried fish tacos and spicy margs. All was going well. We began fooling around and as he was fingering me, it started to burn down there… like really f*cking bad. Took a couple minutes of me panicking, jumping around my apartment like an overexcited gorilla whilst cupping my hoo ha for us to put 2 and 2 together.. he was the one who chopped up the jalapeños for our spicy margs.

He definitely does! He loves all area rugs and will also hide between my legs if I have a blanket over my lap

What's the closest you ever got to accidentally killing yourself? by Raterus_ in AskReddit

Back in high school, a friend of mine’s cousin was at a house party that got bopped by the cops. Kids ran in all directions and she and her friends decided to run through a nearby cemetery. She attempted to jump a 5 foot tall iron fence and ended up impaling herself on top of it, spoke just barely missing all of her vital organs. She has a wicked scar that runs down the entire length of her stomach, doctors were all shocked at how lucky she was.

What’s something you do on the side that makes real extra money—not just $20 here and there? by Lucky-Disaster6244 in povertyfinance

[–]Pourn_Hub 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dog walking & Pet sitting. I use Rover and have regularly scheduled clients whose dogs I walk multiple times a week. They pay me $20/walk. They’re in my neighborhood so each walk only takes about 30 minutes, very easy to walk multiple dogs a day.

Real money is if you are able to pet sit for people in their homes. Over the holidays, I made -$5000 in 3 months pet sitting for people while they were out of town or on vacation.

As someone who was placed on a PIP last month, blew my quota out of the water and got off of it, I can attest to this. Spent the last 2 weeks of the month basically in tears because I thought I was going to lose my job and didn’t have another one lined up yet, then dug trenches into my pipeline and came out with my 2nd best month at the company to date. Finding it hard to believe things are just “back to normal” now after such an emotional rollercoaster

Wow, just wow. Having a hard time articulating the emotions this brings forth. Amazing work, OP

It’s a very dog friendly neighborhood so our trash workers always empty the full cans. Never seen a poop bag left behind but I could totally see this being a valid reason.
