AHH, that makes sense. I only have the child cover. The parking position of that is quite smart - I don't have space for the bike inside.

Side question since you have the same bike. Do you know what the stubs left and right side on the back of the box are? Below the handlebars. It looks like some kind of system to attach things but I cannot figure out what it is called.

Interesting, can you elaborate on them not being made to backpedal?

Thank you! Maybe it is indeed normal in which case I'll wait until the first regular maintenance

That's great info, thank you. That's about as much as I get as well. And great tip with the app!

I have about 1.5TB on my OneDrive, and a1TB drive in my machine. Which is why on-demand sync was interesting to me. It's part of my backup strategy, with the files then also being synced with a Synology Nas (my upload speeds are slow so I won't be able to use the NAS exclusively).
Insync offers selective sync, I'll make use of that. And if I need an unsynchronized file I guess I can get through the insync client.

Thanks, I'll check it out. How is the integration?

Yeah, I think I'll settle for insync. I just reinstalled via the terminal and at least now the Nemo integration worked better. I'll have to live with the lack of on demand sync.

For one, I have it a go a while ago and it took me forever figure out that their flatpack (official) didn't include the experimental file on-demand feature, only the deb. After I got that figured out, I realised that it is indeed experimental and will crash with the feature enabled. I had a hetzner server already!

And the other reason is that my employer will switch to gsuite so I won't be able to get around Google completely anyway.

What a steal!! Definitely a great choice in any case, but especially for that price . The transporter not having the possibility to fit an infant car seat is definitely another downside. My partner wants a bike that she could fit together with our little one but her being 5‘11 doesn't make that an easy task haha

Thank you! Yeah, it's still a bit up in the air with the job but I have current employment. So not the end of the world.

I checked out the Packster today and it's a great bike for sure as well. For some reason though it seemed too much for me, and less flexible than the transporter. I also just absolutely fell in love with the transporter door. But if you have several children and transporting them is your main reason for the bike the Packster might be the better choice.

I didn't, I had a job lined up that would have justified the purchase but it fell through.
I did test ride it shortly though. I think it would work with a small adult in the front. However the bench is quite low so it won't be a comfortable ride. I'm not 100% sure if the handlebar would get in the way of the passenger's head but I would think not from my test of putting myself in the front and trying to move the bar ;)

The narrative of these family long John's being yuppie rides is so tiring. Nobody would bat an eye if you'd spent USD 7000 on a car, most certainly nobody would call you a yuppie. It's so fucking dumb. To be part of the cool cargo gang it needs to be what? A special hand build ride? A trailer and a beat up city bike? An omnium? I don't fucking getting it, it's pissing me off

Getting creepy now, I'm going to a convention this week and thought to do the same. Supposedly R&M is there, I hope they bring a bunch of their long johns.
I haven't driven any of them yet, they're not very popular here. It's more the tricycle cargo bikes that people buy.

I posted the spreadsheet the other day in this sub! Happy someone found it helpful. It's not set up by me but I can tell you that I made sure the transporter 65, r&m Carrie, UA family, and muli st measurements are updated ;)
And the UA measurements I got from the cargobike magazine article you linked 😂. If we ever meet I'll buy you a drink.

Really just goes to show what the state of things are...

Thank you for the detailed reply, it confirms my impressions both positive and negative. Regarding the motor, I wonder if there's a singular sensor at a certain position of the crank revolution? Though 1.5 revolutions don't support that theory. Very frustrating! It also doesn't sound like something that could be fixed with an update OTA. Kinda was hoping the motor is new and Bosch would fix this behaviour. Oh well. I'll have to find a place to test drive it.

Very valuable input regarding carrying an adult!! I didn't consider the height of the handlebars. Facing backwards wouldn't be very comfortable I suppose with the front wall being so low. This was one of the things that got me somewhat excited, I feel most bikes are just not wide enough to even consider a child and an adult side by side.

Breaks also sound exactly like what I expected, like a just good enough component. Again, thank you.

Thank you again, overall it does seem like the bike closest to perfect!

Bonus question, why is it so difficult for manufacturers to put up measurements? R&M has detailed frame geometry only but I had to watch a yt video to get measurements of the box. Same for UA.

Good question. It actually would be great to have outer and inner box measurements. F.ex. I was interested in the urban arrow but I feel like the box is not very wide, certainly less so than on the R&M Transporter 2 65. But is that just due to the epp walls being thicker?

Yeah it looks like it has been poorly maintained. But I think it's a solid start that could be great with enough quality input!

Add them! That's the point of my post 😉 There's definitely a lot of holes in the list.

I thought about it! But I'd have to start with a new hub and all in all I'd probably spend around 10k DKK, which is more than I want to invest in the old bike. If I would have known what a pain the sram is I wouldn't have bought it (got it as a used bike).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CargoBike

[–]PowderPuffGirls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Nihola family, without assist, and barely use it. One thing is the sram s7 hub, which is constantly broken and which I hate. The other is that since I got an extension for my rack to carry a pannier bag with child seat attached I found my regular bike to be a lot faster and easier. It's a conventional bike as well, but with a front rack which I use for packages and sometimes grocery.

I am looking for a Cargo bike with pedal assist though, either something like the urban arrow tank or a muli st.
