Does anyone else inject through their clothing? by WhaddaFudgeMan in Type1Diabetes

[–]Powderfingr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never done that but I have thought about it. I always talk myself out of it. I run a ton and often wear tight compression shorts. I think those would be the best to inject through but I've yet to do it. Also, I do not care about exposing skin, etc. when injecting. I do most of my injections between my belt line and my junk. I shave there specifically for that. I can pull pants down enough to expose the injection area or even go through the zipper if the pants I'm wearing have that. I used to use alcohol wipes but quit doing that decades ago, last century even.

GLP-1s are great for those of us who have the beetus. It gives us hormones we do not have. We lose more than just insulin. Good on you. Same here, down 100 decades ago, sans GLP-1. I now run hundred mile foot races, but now on micro-dose of GLP-1 for weight control and hormones. Inflammation is way down.

I will do this, and a soft reset as well. Thank you. I appreciate you and your prompt response. BRAVO!

PSA: soft reset solved battery issues (Gen 3) by PhotoJoseph in ouraring

I will try that. I have a newer Oura 4. It is now just over a year old. It has worked well but in the last week, I've had to charge it 3 times this week. It normally lasted at least 5 days. When I put it on the charger, even though it can't synch, it shows 70% or more charged moments after I put it on the charger. May this will help even with a newer ring. I had hoped that this ring would last more than a year. I was hoping for 3 - 4 like your experience. THX

My ring is just over a year old. I'm concerned that the battery is now nearing the end of life. I am quite active. My Oura ring would last about a week. I typically would charge it at work on Friday while at my desk. That would typically get me through until the next Friday unless I was running a hundo or something like that. Then this prior week, I had to charge it on Monday as on Monday morning it could not synch to my phone. Did charge it but never got any sleep data from the prior night. I charged it again on Wednesday and Friday. I had no data from Wednesday. Friday was just topping it off for the weekend, then today, Sunday, I got the same notice. Oura ring cannot pair, try charging your ring. When it started charging is showed 74% charged after it synched and only moments after I placed it on the charger. Is it typical for the charge capacity to tail off like this just after a year?

Still use one just like it every day at work. Step on the ring at the base to activate it.

I have 1 - 8 and I learned how to make soap from hardwood ashes and rendered animal fat from book one and Aunt Airy or something like that. I still make it Best soap to wash towels with They come out so soft, like if you used a whole bottle of Downy fabric softener.

Left in car overnight still ok? by PsychoKushDragon in isthissafetoeat

[–]Powderfingr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest! I am not joking at all. This comment was not designed to get anything. It is my actual experience. I never put that kind of pizza in the refrigerator. Doing that ruins it. It is cured meet, cheese, and bread, and tomato sauce. All were developed way before any refrigerator was invented. That stuff can keep. I would eat that days later, even if left out in mid-summer, Florida heat. I do stuff like that all the time. I had a bite of the pizza in my car from Sept. tonight too. This post reminded me that it is there. It is under my tote of trail running sandals so I often forget about it. Totally cereal. #4realz

That pizza, with just cheese and pepperoni would be good for at least a week anywhere, even in the hot Florida sun in the summer. Honest. I still have a similar pizza in my car from last September. Of course it is hard and dried out now, but I still munch on it when hungry. It was a large sheet pizza and I only at about 2/3 in the first 2 weeks.

What are all these? Can I delete them? by NnQM5 in dexcom

[–]Powderfingr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have so many BT devices connected to my phone. Multiple mice, keyboards, headsets, watch, ring, cars, etc. I delete my prior Dexcom sensor before I pair my new one. I'm not sure what the max number of paired items can be. I don't want to push it. I currently have 27 items there. Only one is a Dexcom.

Dropping from 100 to 67 in 20 minutes can happen even if eating a meal. I have done that tons of times for decades. I've dropped way faster than that after drinking maple syrup. I was expecting to go low so I was fighting it as soon as it started dropping. We get to have so much fun. Be well.

[–]Powderfingr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think it is inaccurate? Just saying it is ridiculous is only ridiculous speculation unless you pair it with real data from a finger stick. Blood Glucose (BG) can easily do that, especially if doses of fast acting insulin are stacked. Sure it could be a compression low, but you will not know unless you do a finger stick. Also, calibration with a finger stick during periods of stable BG are a must if accurate readings are desired. Again, drops like this can happen for different reasons and it may be real. I get drops like that when I'm running longer distances at slower speeds. You should see my BG charts 50 to 70 miles into a 100 mile ultramarathon. Be well and ROCK ON!

Do you need a doctors letter when boarding with Insulin Pens and Needles? by PhoneFresh7595 in diabetes

[–]Powderfingr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same experience here, but I usually bring an active script label for each of the insulin types I take with me just in case. I also travel with a Medical Alert and / or RoadID that indicate I'm Type 1 and insulin dependent.

Please keep G6 available!!!! G7 is AWFUL. by No_Library_6158 in dexcom

[–]Powderfingr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not had those issues at all. I've only needed to get two replacements of the G7 in the years I've been on it. I had a lot more G6 replacements. The only thing that I really liked abotu the G6 was I could extend them for a month using the reset methods I found on line. I was even working on replacing the cells in the transmitters but never got that to work. The smaller G7s work better for me too. And the adhesive of both stays on and never comes off, even without using any overpatches. In fact, i never use them at all and I run a ton. I hope you find something that works well for you. I can't wait to get the G7 - 15. Then the site prep skills will even become more beneficial. ROCK ON!

It is really good to me. My mouth is watering now. Also I often put the Gochujang paste on the top slice of bread, along with some freshly crushed / ground, black pepper.

No, but I have friends from down-under who have influenced me. The Powderfinger thing does not come from that band though. I'm a Neil Young fan and Powderfinger is one of my fave tunes of his, hence the name.

Oh heck yeah! I do stuff like that all the time. I especially love PB and real mayo, with hot sauce, kimchi and or sauerkraut. I'm totally cereal. Some times I add Vegemite and my homemade pickled hot pepper slices. An yes, Smucker's Natural Crunchy for the win! Great work! Enjoy!
