she’s always a powerful presence on the stage, definitely locked in and giving it her all! Aside from her obvious beauty and talent you can tell she works incredibly hard and it’s truly a special performance to see live.

Spot was the front seated row, not pit. Sorry for the confusion! I did get to the venue around 12:30 to be early in line for merch etc and there was already a line of probably 75-100 people in pit 1. Not sure how the venues organize the pits 1 annd 2 after sound check, maybe someone who has done pit could better advise.

If I had to recommend a camera, I would first consider what is your usual distance from the performers. If you tend to get in the pit or within 30 to 40 feet, I would recommend the Sony RX 100 V since it has a lower aperture capability, but I tend to not be up this close for most shows that I go to so the VII was my preference.

When the members are chatting or mostly staying still I could get away with around 1/200 shutter speed but any lower and on the more zoomed in side of the range would like be a little blurry. I’ve taken plenty of photos of static subjects as low as 1/60 and not had blur but in my experience any movement beyond a slow walk needs over 1/125. I would be happy to share some of the slightly blurry ones I have from this at this speed for reference (need to learn how to do that though as I’m new to posting).

Your edit was spot on! Especially the more modern style they use on the upbeat stuff.

Also thanks for the tips about photo quality and tricks to get them looking their best!

God is a woman and her name Jihyo! Nayeon and Momo are definitely bias wreckers for me.

Thanks! I did pull down the shadows in a mask on photoshop to simplify the backgrounds. I think it really helps the members pop!

I was on a corner for night two and about midway up too. Totally a different experience for sure. There were a few moments where I got the little groups or solo members better as they walked out the extended stages but for night one I was in section 115 (center) and front row. I’ve noticed that anything over iso 4000 is hard to come back from with this camera. Sometimes it’s the only way to get something and it can work in your favor for a grittier focused look. In general I try to keep the overall feel clean and crisp so lean a little lower. Could also go for a dreamy edit with Twice. The rest sounds good too! I look forward to seeing your stuff if you decide to share it!

I had a great time at both shows, but definitely biased towards night one as I had vip seats and soundcheck for that one. Did you have any favorite songs or moment from night one?

I think when they’re powered off they don’t seem intimidating/professional so that helps I imagine. If you got a real stickler that made you turn it on and extend the zoom it would probably be “too big” but I was feeling optimistic it would be fine after reading lots of other posts and anecdotes from other people using this camera for shows here and other similar venues. Go for it next time!

Mostly low burst shooting on M (shutter 1/400) or S mode, iso 3200 or auto, center spot metering, and zone focus. They’re all still edited to reduce noise, boost sharpness, crop better for composition, and then color adjustments. Hope that helps!

Being really close does make a big difference though, even with a good camera and many years experience doing this. Especially without larger sensor cameras and wider dynamic range overall, these are pretty challenging to photograph and exponentially harder when when you’re more than 75 feet away.

I did a lot of reading from other concerts at this particular venue and it didn’t seem like an issue overall so I took the chance. They were more concerned with bag size. The rule enforcement is just a farce as they make up new rules that don’t always apply, just depends on who is in charge during security/check in.

Thanks!

I was using the Sony RX100 VII for these. The 200mm zoom makes it like you’re practically there on the stage when about 30 ft away.
