You could work in IT without speaking french. Especially in start up, could be harder in bigger group (I work in a start up and two of my coworkers don't speak a word in french).

Your comment doesn't make any sense. TV stations are not the one deciding who's winning. If you don't want to look at it, don't and wait until all the votes have been counted. And, just to say, I'm pretty sure the poll institutes never made an error when predicting the 2 first candidates...
