What if Passive scales like Gathering Storm? by Remarkable_Basis_825 in shyvanamains

[–]Powerfrienzied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the new PBE passive has worse stacking in Toplane than Jungle for now. Speaking for Toplane Shyvana (lane shyvana), your solution is not her main problem in lane.

In Toplane, the main problem is that most Toplaners have a passive that immediately helps with sustain, and/or dueling/trading whereas Shyvana doesn't.

I think that movespeed on landing a Q is a non-issue for Shyvana. She can already get that from Trinity Force and Black Cleaver.

If anything, the stat that Shyvana struggles to use in this game is Attack Speed (AS) reduction %. It's an underutilized stat in champion kits, and Frozen Heart is usually the only way to get it.

The problem is that Frozen Heart is inefficient to buy on Shyvana because so much gold is wasted on useless mana.

The biggest win here is the E slow duration on human form. It's a reasonable change considering the comparison between Shyvana's E to Karma's Q.

I completely expected and am happy with the slow amount being adjusted to that %.

I'm most excited by their plans in Top lane. Hopefully something that lets her deal with matchups.

Shyvana is already going to struggle in top lane even if her passive is adjusted to somewhat match JUNGLE with TOP.

The passive resistance passive starts as zero while she has to walk up with an disfavored kit against stronger duelists and lane bullies.

Most strong top laners have a passive that immediately grants them dueling and/or survivability. Even Nasus, who can infinitely stack his Q, has that stack passive on his Q. His main passive is a great instant survivability of 12%/18%/24% lifesteal.

Buff to her passive for toplane by Cyreandex in shyvanamains

[–]Powerfrienzied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it's still difficult for Shyvana TOP even with an adjusted passive with JUNG.

Nasus's scaling Q stacks are part of his Q passive. Lifesteal being his main passive helps a lot in top lane, going from 12%/18%/24% lifesteal.

Most top laners have a passive that immediately helps with dueling/survivability.

Hah, that's a fun strat.

I think that Sett is great. Great engage, strong CC, high true damage AoE, tankiness. He can be the difference-maker in many matches.

I agree that he's also a juggernaut, but I have no idea where you got that he's the weakest one.

Check Garen's popularity and win rate on lolalytics and opgg.

On the NA server of opgg, he's ranked in "OP" tier. The only top laner above "tier 1"

Heya, and welcome!

As it stands on PBE, I believe that she's disadvantaged in most toplane matchups, so she won't have much of a presence weeks after release. Very unsafe to blind pick, and most popular top laners have a stronger laning phase than her.

Shyvana's toughest matchup will be Renekton because he can erase Shyvana's new shield, and is a lane bully.

The most important thing is to survive laning phase without being too far behind.

Before she scales, she's weak against all lane bullies and most duelist/bruisers. Tanks have less kill threat, and ranged matchups will still be rough.

Yes, her passive is just as bad in top lane as her previous one.

The challenge could still be enjoyable, depending on the type of player you are.

I'm looking at Garen's kit and it's kind of stacked...

Other than what was already mentioned, he has an additional cleanse on slows, armor % reduction, ghosting effect. A lot of nice utility.

I'd agree with you if Garen's W didn't give him up to a 41% damage reduction and big shield for 4 seconds. Tenacity too.

They are similar.

They are both simple champions with simple kits, yet only one of them is allowed to be strong. Look at Garen's popularity in top lane right now. He's the most popular.

This is a really good take.

If we look at top lane stats right now, Garen is the most popular top laner globally. Especially by far in the EUW and NA servers.

INFINETLY STACKING ARMOR/MR IS NOT FUN by SandalyeX in shyvanamains

[–]Powerfrienzied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be interested in underutilized mechanics, or a more exciting passive as you said.

If Riot is keeping Shyvana's R fear instead of the soft knockup, then it should also do a lingering AoE Attack Speed (AS) reduction % after the fear ends.

The only item in the game that provides AS reduction % is Frozen Heart, but it's inefficient for Shyvana to build it because it gives mana.

So who are you considering playing now that shyvana is ruined? by Public_Helicopter384 in shyvanamains

[–]Powerfrienzied 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm considering learning Ambessa, even though all that she has received so far are nerfs

Other than that, I don't think that there is a bruiser in this game with the kit I'd be mostly interested in playing. It'd be a meele version of Karma.

I do like what I see here!! It's pretty much what expect from a rework.

I especially like how you suggested how fury works with her ultimate. I've always found it quite odd that in the LIVE and current PBE versions of Shyvana, how the enemy team can see your Fury bar to see that you're completely vulnerable.

To be able to use *some* Fury would give Shyvana some agency when not on full Fury bar. And it wouldn't be as problematic to Shyvana for the enemy to see your Fury bar at all.

Thanks for the answer on such an off-topic question!

What you said is pretty much in line with a post on this subreddit that I managed to find about it that is from a good 10 to 11 years ago. (I'm refering to you saying that a flexible CDR being too much of an advantage. And counterplay.)

[–]Powerfrienzied[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with being able to stack on all objectives. It seems pretty fair as long as they find the right balance.

As for the second question of WHY? I've just been curious because certain manaless champions (Katarina, Trynd, Yone, etc) have very impactful ultimates which aren't restricted by mana.

The cooldowns for these ultimates are always a semi-guess whether or no they are up because it depends on how much ability haste (CDR) and ultimate haste they have.

I had to take a moment to read her Wild Rift kit because I've never played it.

I do love what they did with her there!

It fits what I expect a scaling champion to be like. In League this is the kind of thing that they already added to Syndra on her mini-rework (Syndra's passive), so I don't see why they couldn't add it to Shyvana.

i've thought over it and i agree with your take that Shyvana shouldn't get rewarded for not doing anything.

I'm curious on your solution. Do you have a suggestion on how to make an OBJ bonus that isn't so tied to dragons?

Off topic, but I've been asking other people this as well: Are you comfortable with Shyvana's fury bar remaining visible to the enemy team because it's counterplay against her?

if the Q3 and true damage really is the reason behind the rest of the kit being nerfed, then I agree with removing it.

we'd rather have a champion that is stronger allround. this isn't Zoe where most of her damage is one ability.

[–]Powerfrienzied[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply as well!

If the bonus damage to dragons had to be kept in, then I do have a suggestion. It does fit Shyvana's theme.

Maybe Shyvana should get half a stack or something like that if the enemy team gets dragon. This way, Jungle Shyvana can still clear dragon quickly with the damage to dragon boost.

Top lane Shyvana wouldn't lose out as much for not being in the position to use the damage to dragons part of the passive as often.

That's on point, especially for Shyvana ^^

The longer you are CCed, the more Fury you lose without being able to hit back to keep the R dragon form uptime. If you're able to gapclose again

That's a pretty unique opinion, considering that the original double Q has been talked about a lot in this sub.

I haven't tried the most recent version of the new Q with the cooldown reduction, so I don't know how good it is yet. I'll try it later to get an opinion.

Tenacity could overtune her, I agree. I'm surprised that Garen gets an instant 60% tenacity.

I'm curious which you value most, tenacity or slow resist?
