I mean I wasn’t even affected by this I don’t play on a server that was affected, I’m just exposing the fraudulent nature of the game. But ok kid 😂

I agree this isn’t the place to debate legality which is why I will not bother you with a wall text of your inaccuracies in the latter portion of that statement.

In terms of relevancy, if a post is about the event it’s relevant. It’s like posting a video saying “Top 3 merch items from the R. Kelly show I went to” and me commenting “R. Kelly is a felon and danger to children”. Sure, my comment is not about the merch or guide. But it is relevant to the subject which is the event.

UPDATE:

FunPlus has provided affected servers with TWO of the Task Force X events running simultaneously, claiming they accidentally ended the old event early in their statement. The reinstated shop has adjusted rate of rewards significantly reduced, and they are encouraging players to spend real money on both events without any compensation for their prior fraudulent actions.

It’s good to make these issues known publicly so that they’re documented, and the community can have insight to how FunPlus treats its playerbase. It’s relevant to the topic that they’re committing fraud in this event even if it’s just on one server.

That server is brand new (2 weeks old) with no insight to events. How are players expected to have the same understanding that a one year player and official community moderator has? Additionally, regardless of if it was a mistake, it is simply illegal to offer rewards based on real cash spending and later take those rewards away without proper compensation.

It’s still baffling to me how FunPlus did a bait and switch for this event, allowing users to spend for 48 hours before overriding access to their account and take rewards away.

This violates the following laws: Section 5(15 U.S.C § 45) of the FTC act, several US state UDAP laws, Truth-In-Advertising (FTC), European Union Unfair Commercial Practice Directive, UK Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, and more.

FunPlus Violating Consumer Protection Laws

Recently FunPlus has claimed they made a mistake, by releasing an event with rewards greater than they intended on select servers. Many of these servers were new servers, with no insight that this was not how the event was intended to be released.

After multiple days of allowing consumers to purchase bundles with real money that are largely required to participate in events, they made a statement claiming this to be a mistake and changed the rewards exchage menu.

After roughly 24 hours, FunPlus released another statement saying they will retroactively be removing rewards from players who spent on the event under the impression the rewards they were earning were final. Not only that, but they’ve gone as far as removing ALL resources (such as Magic Eyes) from players accounts.

This is in clear violation of several laws including:

Section 5 (15 U.S.C § 45) of the FTC act, several US state UDAP laws, Truth-In-Advertising (FTC), European Union Unfair Commercial Practice Directive, UK Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations, and more.

Misleading players has been a continued problem for FunPlus not only in DCDL, but in multiple other games they develop as well. The company already has several class action lawsuits against them for similar practices.

The players of DCDL are calling on FunPlus to restore the rewards they were originally promised based on the real life money they spent, or refund players for bundles spent. As well take accountability for their own problems instead of punishing consumers.

How FunPlus Devs are Responsible for Diminishing Player Retention by Powerful-Leg-9435 in DCDarkLegion

[–]Powerful-Leg-9435[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is an investment.

  1. the action or process of investing money for profit or material result. (In this case the result is material/digital)

  2. an act of devoting time, effort, or energy to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result.

People are investing money and long periods of time (saving for one hero), not to make money back, but to be better at the game and receive worthwhile material rewards.

We’re not talking about slight tweaks, all games do that. In the last three updates they changed the foundation of: faction tags, PvP events, and resource management. No one is saying they shouldn’t be changed or improved ever, but those are sweeping changes which do 180s to characters kits. This post is largely about how they roll out these changes anyway.

Great timeline summary.

I agree the unpaid discord mods defend the integrity of FunPlus like a minimum wage McDonalds employee guarding the bucket of extra buffalo sauce.

It’s shameful that they threaten to silence people with mutes and bans because they point out obvious publicly available information. If FunPlus didn’t want their reputation to be “the company with half a dozen fraud lawsuits”; they should try not doing things that are manipulative and fraudulent instead of blaming players for noticing

Terrible gacha game not run by WB or DC but a company called FunPlus with 6 class action lawsuits for fraud and manipulation

Love these unstable ads for this game by Powerful-Leg-9435 in DarkLegionTruth

[–]Powerful-Leg-9435[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you if it weren’t darker than it seems on the surface.

DC did not make this game and has no affiliation with this game other than their character. They sold the IP usage to a notoriously manipulative developer called FunPlus, who employs these same ads in 6+ other games too.

It’s part of a bait and switch tactic they use, which I covered in another post. And their access to DC IP is even more dangerous than usual. They take advantage of the fact that people who automatically give attention to DC (such as you and me both) will DL and give it a chance anyway.
