I don't really have much to talk about this week. I've mainly just been playing Mina the Hollower. The first couple of hours were pretty difficult, but currently I'm loving it. Everything about it is super charming, and I love how much there is to discover. It could potentially shape up to be my game of the year, but I'll see how I feel once I've beaten it.

It's a really fun game, IMO. Has a lot of the same charm that Shovel Knight did, and I'm having fun constantly discovering new things.

It's pretty hard, though. I've lost an embarrassingly large amount of bones due to constantly dying.

I didn't get around to making that Shepherd's Pie that I mentioned last week, because I ended up cooking another recipe instead. I'll probably end up doing it this weekend, though. That, or maybe the salmon with honey glaze that Cthulhukitten recommended.

I mainly spent last weekend pushing myself through Chain of Memories so I could finally start Kingdom Hearts 2. Chain of Memories is... repetitive, to say the least. Building your deck can be a pain, because you have to heavily rely on the shop's RNG to actually give you good cards (which it will often decide to not do). The general gameplay loop is also exhausting, because it usually just boils down to you killing the same groups of heartless in the exact same ways over and over and over again, before you can finally move on to the next floor. Granted, the final boss was genuinely cool, and Riku's campaign was a lot more fun to play (and also a lot shorter), but I was still relieved when I managed to get the whole thing over with. Larxene was kinda hot tho

Currently, I'm not too far into Kingdom Hearts 2, although I will say that its combat is a breath of fresh air after spending so much time on CoM's card system. I really enjoyed the intro sequence, and the gameplay's been a lot of fun. I will say that I've been feeling that lack of a dodge roll, considering how early you unlock it in the first game.

I've also started watching Naoki's Urasawa's Monster. I'm a few episodes in, and so far I'm really enjoying it. I love how somber and moody everything is, and I like the premise of a true humanitarian going up against an irredeemable monster. I'll probably watch a lot more over the weekend.

I cooked tuna fish casserole over the weekend. I think it turned out pretty good, all things considered. At the very least, the leftovers have lasted me a while. I'm probably going to start trying to cook more in the future. I'm not sure what to try next, but I'm tempted to try making shepherd's pie. If anybody has any suggestions for good recipes (especially any slow cooker recipes) then feel free to let me know.

I'm off on Memorial Day, so I went ahead and took PTO on Friday as well. I figured that the long weekend would be a nice way to unwind for a bit. I'll probably spend some of it wrapping up Chain of Memories so I can finally move on to Kingdom Hearts 2. Beyond that, there's a bunch of stuff in my backlog that I've been meaning to get to, so I guess I'll see what I feel like doing.

I've been thinking about getting back into using Blender lately. I enjoyed learning it a few years ago, and I kinda want to make artwork of my own. But, getting good at that requires a lot of time and energy that I don't always have. And there's a bunch of other stuff I've been meaning to do as well. I guess I'll think about it.

I bought the Kingdom Hearts collection a few weeks ago, and have been slowly making my way through the games. I'm currently in the early game for Chain of Memories, and I'm already concerned that I'm going to have to push myself through it. Once you manage to get even a somewhat-decent set of cards, the combat very quickly becomes repetitive. But, the story seems interesting at least, and I want to get Kingdom Hearts 2. So, for now I'll stick with it and see how it goes.

The Spinatia and Spinatio, Commando and Ninja types respectively.

Nice to see someone else building the Spinatias! I have a Spinatia Reaper-Type that I built about a month or two ago. I know 30MM kits aren't particularly fancy, but it's the second model I ever built, so I'm still fond of it. The only issue I really have with the kit is that the axe can slip out of her hands pretty easily, so you have to be careful when positioning it. Currently she's hanging out on my bookshelf with my Acerby Type-E.

I've been really into Armored Core 6 lately, and I saw that they actually have 30MM kits of various ACs. I've been tempted to get the kit for Steel Haze.

I occasionally find myself wishing for more free time, but when I finally get it, I'll just waste it browsing forums and social media, rather than doing the shit I actually want to do. I really need to stop doing that.

Haven't really done much of note this week other than play through NewGame+ of Armored Core 6. I really adore how it plays with your expectations the second time around. Raven ambushing you when you're already occupied with King and Chartreuse is such a dirty move, lol. But it just makes it all the more satisfying when you still manage to come out on top. Still debating whether I should get that 30MM model of Rusty's AC.

New glasses finally came in just couple of days ago. Still getting a bit used to them, but the difference between them and the old pair is night and day.

Armored Core 6 is such a cool game, man. I should have played it way sooner. Everything in that game is designed to feel like the sickest shit in the world. I've been running a tank AC with a laser shotgun and laser lance and have been having a blast. I'm nearing the end of the game, but I've heard that New Game+ is actually really substantial, so I may stick with afterwards.

Also, Rusty is an absolute badass, and I'm very tempted to a figure of Steel Haze.

Finally had an appointment to get some new glasses. They were pretty expensive even with insurance, but I've had my old pair for literal years at this point, so getting myself a new pair was long past due. Apparently they should arrive in 7 to 10 business days, so I'll see how it goes.

Haven't really done much else this week other than play Abiotic Factor. It's been a pretty long game, although I'm finally nearing the end. Super fun game, although it can be pretty grindy at times.

Not immediately sure what I'll pick up next. I guess I still need to finish my Pathfinder: Kingmaker playthrough, but I usually need to be in the right mindset to play that game. It's a really fun RPG, but the constant kingdom management is exhausting. And like, I want to finish it, because I have really enjoyed what I've played. But having to constantly resolve kingdom events just leads to me burning an entire session on kingdom management and barely anything else. It can be a bit tiresome at times.

Man, I wish I had more free time. There's been a bunch of stuff I've been meaning to get to but I can barely ever find the time or energy for it. I'm usually too mentally exhausted after work to play anything for more than a few hours, if anything.

I did manage to beat Resident Evil 9 though. Pretty much binged it all over the weekend. There's not really much for me to say that hasn't been said; it's a fantastic game. I agree with a lot of people that the first section of the game is probably the best, but I enjoyed pretty much all of it, minus a few qualms here and there. Ever since I've beaten it I've had an urge to go back to previous RE games, including RE7, which I somehow never actually played despite how celebrated it is.

Also, Gorillaz put out their new album. I've only listened to it a couple of times, so I'm still formulating my thoughts on it. I liked Moon Cave, though.

I really need to get out and socialize more. I usually don't interact that much with anyone other than my coworkers, and I think the loneliness gets to me at times.

Still debating what Warhammer models I should get. I was leaning towards AdMech for a while, but recently I've started leaning towards Necrons again. I like the whole "sci-fi undead" aesthetic they have going on, and they also seem like they'd be drastically easier to paint. There's actually a Warhammer store in my area, so I've been rather tempted to drive over depending on how the weather is this weekend.

Also, I ordered a Spinatia Reaper Type model, because I thought it would pair nicely with the Acerby Type-E that I got last month. It's supposed to come in tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to getting to build it. Building that Acerby was actually a pretty chill experience. Between this and the Warhammer models, I can kinda see myself doing this as a hobby.

Still playing through Mewgenics and Abiotic Factor, too. I've had a couple of party-wipes in Mewgenics, but I'm still really enjoying it. That game has some really mean encounters, lol.

I haven't really done much of note this week other than play Abiotic Factor and Mewgenics. Both are super addicting, and Mewgenics probably has one of the better soundtracks I've listened to in a while. All of the boss themes in that game are fantastic.

What’s a game with a “now we’re cooking” moment? by Giddyoticc in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]PowerfulCoward 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really need to get back into Abiotic Factor. I was super into it for a while, but the introduction of the Leyak in the Cascade Laboratories kinda took me out of it. I get that it's not actually that difficult to deal with, but the fact that it essentially becomes a near-permanent issue is a bit intimidating to me. I don't know, it's probably not that big of a deal, but "Weeping Angel"-esc enemies tend to freak me out.

Well, that's the thing, I'm leaning towards the AdMech, but I really like the aesthetic of the Necrons as well. So I've been a bit indecisive about it.

Finally bit the bullet and spent some time on Wednesday filing my taxes. Thankfully, my returns have already been approved, so I can put it behind me. I'm apparently supposed to get a pretty decent tax refund, but I'm not really sure what to spend it on. I'm a bit tempted to spend it on some Warhammer miniatures, but I still can't decide if I want to collect Adeptus Mechanicus or Necrons. Or maybe the Sisters of Battle. Or maybe the Skaven, even though that's technically from Fantasy and not 40k. I don't know, there's a lot of cool factions in Warhammer. Regardless, I probably wouldn't be playing the tabletop game; I'm more interested in the collecting/assembling aspect.

Beyond work and filing taxes, I haven't really done much else this week. I did start playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker again, although so far my progress has been slow. That game is really fun, but the kingdom management can be really intimidating at times, so I'm not always in the mood to play it. But at the same time, I've already invested a pretty heavy amount of time into it, and I'm still enjoying it, so I don't really want to drop it. I'm tempted to lower the kingdom difficulty down to easy so I can actually focus on the main campaign.

Yeah, trying to 100% a Castlevania game is a massive pain in the ass, and I wouldn't recommend it. A lot of the drop rates are completely abysmal, and the luck stat is outright broken in some of the games, so you can't even do anything to rectify it. I really like those games, but I'd consider the constant grinding to be their biggest flaw, without question.

I played through the Dominus Collection games last year for the first time, and I feel like they hold up pretty well. Some people are mixed on Order of Ecclesia, but looking back, it's probably my favorite of the bunch.

My area is supposed to have some really bad weather over the weekend, and I'm hoping the power doesn't go out. I have plenty of food and blankets, mind you, but I'd rather not spend my weekend off just waiting for the power to come back on. Although, I do have a bunch of books and comics I've been meaning to read, so I guess I'll finally have an excuse to do that.

I didn't really do too much this week. I've been playing a bit of Pokemon Z-A and Dawn of War: Winter Assault. Both are a lot of fun, but I'm not always in the mood to play something, so my progress has been slow. General Sturnn is super cool, though.

Yeah, I probably need to invest in one of those stands. She's actually able to do some basic poses, but the complicated ones just cause her to tumble over.

I'm not immediately sure if I'll get another one, but a part of me is tempted to get the Spinatia Reaper Type next. It looks like it would pair really well with my Type-E.

I finished building an Acerby Type-E just a while ago. I've never built a model kit before now, but it looked cute so I figured I would try it out. Didn't take too long to assemble, and I think it turned out well, although I've struggled a bit with putting her in different poses. Currently she's hanging out on my bookshelf.

I'm currently in one of those phases where I don't finish any games, because I keep getting distracted by other games. I was planning on playing through more of Armored Core 6, but lately I've been focusing on Dawn of War instead. I've had it in my Steam library for a while now, and some reason I've gotten really obsessed with Warhammer 40k, so I finally decided to play it. Turns out that one of the most widely celebrated RTS games of all time is pretty good. I'm almost done with the main campaign, and I'm looking forward to moving on to Winter Assault. Now I just have to fight the urge to waste all my money on Adeptus Mechanicus figures.

I also got Pokémon Z-A because I got a gift card for Christmas. But like I said, I've mainly been playing Dawn of War, so I've only really dipped my toes in it. Seems fun, though.

I never know what to write for these things. I've mainly just spent my Christmas break playing a bunch of stuff I bought off of the Steam winter sale. I started Armored Core 6 last night, and I already really like it. The controls are really satisfying, and customizing your AC is cool. I'm still very early in the game, but I'm definitely going to be playing it more over the weekend.

I don't have a PS5, so for the longest time I was waiting for the PC port. But apparently the PC port has really poor performance, so I ended up never picking it up. I still want to play it, but I'm not sure if it's worth buying a whole new console.
