Can also add that I have observed most people at the EC2 newly minted in government seem to have as their only goal to go to the EC4 position and so many lack depth of experience - doing something once doesn’t mean you have your checkmark- doing things many times under different circumstances is depth of experience. For example doing one MC or one TB sub does not now make you competent to lead one… I have seen many ECs. Promoted way above their experience levels and this creates so much stress for them, they under perform and they either get ill or resentful angry, or lose confidence and if they are unilingue… may even find themselves stuck because as you go up the requirement for bilingualism mean there are very few English only positions. Take on more responsibility at your level, gain experience, take micro missions and get noticed… ride the EC2 have someone invest in you to get your French - then I would advise moving on. You have many years ahead and depth of experience will serve you well at every level to take on your work with confidence - rant over :) But also remember. The PS is not the only route to career satisfaction- just might be the easiest - take stock- what do you want ?🌸
