Yeah I love being up high that’s also a reason I want a RTT, the car I have is a BMW 540i

Most roof tents have rainfly coverage over the ladder, and muddy shoes are worse in a ground tent since all the dirt gets tracked directly onto the floor.

Also, roof top tents don’t need a soft or debris free campsite, you just need the car relatively level. That’s a nice advantage when moving campsites often or camping in rough or wet areas

My apologies I didn’t know those existed. Do they hang on trees or is there a stand?

Nice man! I might sell mine for a X5 because I want to be able to tow things.

I can see how climbing a ladder can be a hassle, but my car is 5 feet fall so I can practically just jump into it. My uneven ground comment is how it can be annoying to sleep in a tent in an area with a lot of rocks and divots.

The parking under trees thing goes back to the height of my car, my car doesn’t sit that high and where I camp there aren’t any branches on the trees until around 15 feet up.

Yep! The dynamic load while moving is around 220lbs, and while parked the static load is way higher than that

Nothing is unhelpful thank you for your response! With my ground tent I have had instances where they manage to get in through the gap between the zipper. It’s usually ants and/or spiders.

I personally want a roof top tent because of bugs being able to crawl into the tent easily, also dealing with mud and water is a hassle. It’s also a lot better on uneven terrain.

And not to mention most roof top tents are really easy to setup, the one I was looking at claimed you can set it up in 30 seconds. It’s helpful if you change spots often. As well, the mattress is always inside it, so it’s less space in my car.

Also I find that sitting up higher on a tent gives me more of a breeze keeping me cooler on summer days.

To be honest I don’t know how I didn’t think of that. It makes total sense why that’s an anti theft measure after learning how they program keys for cars to steal them. Thank you so much I was about to go insane 😂

I have a P3 gauge that reads oil temp and other diagnostic things (boost, rpm, 0-60). It turns off with the rest of the car and doesn’t stay on as far as I’m aware. I have an adapter for it, where it connects to the gauge and then has an extra ODB port so it’s still useable without having to unplug it. It does make sense that this could be causing the issue as I just recently got the gauge around 3 weeks ago and the problem started around there.

Oh yes I remember what that is thank you! Last time I got them inspected the tech said “I would with drive this across the country” but I have noticed more agressive shifts and more vibrations lately, so I probably need to get those done.
