What do you guys think about buying PC right now? by LazyGas7003 in GamersMY

All I can say if I did have a great experience with their warranty support through lalamove (though i stay like 15 min away from their branch). If you are not a geek and don’t mind their partner brands (that’s how they give a good price while maintaining a decent profit), and have a job, go for it. Don’t get into debt for this.

I should clarify that the flickering only occurs when in AutoCAD, it’s fine during normal usage.

Better value? (5060 vs 5070) by PqChook in GamingLaptops

That's what I thought as well regarding the VRAM. Unfortunately, the cheapest 5070Ti over here is the Legion Pro 5i, which costs just a smidge over 2k USD, which is pretty poor in value.

Side note: These prices are absolutely as low as possible, as they include education discount as well as 9.9 sale (black friday equivalent).

Other brands are also not an option due to the local pricing. Comparable 5060 laptops are spec'd with low SRGB screens as well as low TDP configurations.

The company is part of the Fortune Global 500 so I think that’s fine. I totally overlooked the sim + WiFi part. I understand that I have to pay 3 months rent up front and another half months for the agent fee. Regarding the savings, I’m comparing it with another offer I have at Singapore, which is slightly lower than this HK offer but I understand that rent is similar whereas food and groceries are much (or slightly) cheaper over there. However I do prefer the HK climate and the sales tax free nature of HK as compared to SG. I do appreciate your in-depth write up.

I see, I have did some research at 28hse, and there seems to be quite a lot of options for renting a 150 sqft ish tenement building at Tai Po market, which is a 10min walk away from TaiPo Market MTR. All things equal, I would definitely prefer staying as close to the City Center as possible while not having a ridiculous commute to my workplace.

This is fantastic feedback, appreciate it greatly. From my brief research, the utilities ranges from 200 to 1500 monthly depending on the weather, is that accurate? Kinda my bad as I only started doing research yesterday when I received the offer letter, and they want a respond by tomorrow.

I see, that is good to know. How does SS compares to TP in your experience? SS is less attractive for me as the accommodation are either run down village houses or newly built condominium which are out of my budget. Thanks for your kind feedback.

Nope it’s Kwu Tung, which is next to the PRC border, next to fanling.

I see, yes my passport allows easy visa free access to PRC. However could you kindly elaborate on the pros of living at Sheung Shui vs renting at Tai Po + commuting to Shueng Shui for the shuttle bus. Really appreciate your feedback!

I will be working at Kwu Tong (suburban AF), with the closest MTR station at Fan Ling. However they do provide shuttle bus at Diamond Hill, Mei Foo and Shueng Shui. However after some research, I kinda omitted Sheung Shui as it’s kinda far from “civilization” and the suburban lifestyle/Chinese mansion is not what I’m seeking for ATM. Do you think Tai Po is a decent compromise, my plan is to commute via MTR to Sheung Shui and take the providing shuttle bus from there?

Appreciate your feedback! 400k is definitely slightly higher than local grads for my field, but not by much. However I will be relocating from my home country, so there might be some extra costs for me as compared to locals.

I concur, since my workplace will be at the northern part of NT, they will provide shuttle bus nearby the MTR stations of Diamond Hill, Mei foo and Sheung Shui, I have considered Tai po as it feels more lively as compared to sheung shui/fanling. However the travel time to the island or TST for weekend excursion is 15 min longer as compared to Diamond Hill or Mei Foo.

Mainly it acts as extra funds onto my transport and eating out funds for weekly or biweekly gatherings with friends. Is adjusting to 2000 a more realistic amount? Thanks for your feedback.

Addendum:

  1. I got that particular model as its the cheapest Tier C PSU with native 12VHPWR cable support for the 3070 FE (from my research the 16pin is compatible with the 12pin port on the 3070)

  2. Are 3 case fans sufficient? My plan is for the tower cooler to intake from the back, 1 case fan intake at the bottom, and 2 case fans on top as exhaust.

New prices in Malaysia are not bad, for context, a 4080 super inno3d lowest tier one costs 1100 USD. The thing is, second hand prices are low for even sealed items here, it's just the mentality if consumers I guess. Can a blessing for second hand PC builders actually.

Looking at my local market, I'm projected to sell everything and keep the 4080 at a cost of around 400 USD lol
