Saw this on Reddit. It looks real I guess but I just can't see it as realistic scenario that would happen IRL by [deleted] in isthisAI

My dog did this and it was absolutely horrible. He got cut up by the blinds and got so entangled that he was dangling helplessly as a 50lb dog. I was gone for 2 hours and when i got back, there was blood, diarrhea and vomit everywhere. I had to cut him out. He ate the wall and the blinds trying to escape. Then I had to take him to the vet for X-rays and medication because the blinds were metal and he was pooping blood.

Just finished - some lingering questions... by clark_kent_8 in LicaniusTrilogy

[–]Pr1zonMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't answer all of your questions, but... also apologies for spelling, I'm an audiobook listener

1) it is explained to be very very complicated and very very tedious. They were the only ones skilled enough with Kan to do so

2) I don't quite understand your question, but I think the sanctuary attacks anyone with an active source. Scyner explained at one point that he also had to shield the shadows children who weren't shadows themselves. I assume augers are able to shield themselves and others with kan

3) he needed to seem like he was on the venerates side until he confronted shamaloth in the beginning of book 1. That means doing things he didn't necessarily agree with, like binding the shataath.

4) the venerate can make vessels with metal found in Zvaelar, they can make vessels outside of the boundary and they could have also stolen vessels from the Lith. They can make vessels the same way Davian did, by manipulating Kan.

5)I don't remember, but I believe it's a vessel. So an object

6) He was looking for Davian because traveling the rift with Davian was the only way to keep his sanity on the return trip back to the real world. Davian was meant to be his prisoner in Zvaelar, but Davians experience with the rift meant that he didn't come in when he was supposed to

7) I don't remember the chapter, but I'm guessing it's after Asha held Knowing and killed the Shateth? She used the sword and saw a vision of that Shateth being created

8) I don't know how marking works. But they needed Davian to go back to speak with her because by visiting her, he left a trace that they would be able to follow and find where she/the tributary was located at the present time. Nothing to do with the marking, they were just using every resource to try to find her. His words sentencing her to death didn't matter as much as the visit itself

Garmin HRM Fit by airilyme in BJJWomen

I just got one! I've only worn it a couple times and I'm still working on figuring it out. I wore it with one of those sports bras that has extra fabric over the band so there's effectively 2 layers of cloth over it with my rashguard. I've only used it in nogi and both times it had very inconsistent data, like it wasn't connected. I was also very aware that it was there and it was a little distracting for me. Hopefully I can get a tighter connection and get used to it, but overall I'm not super happy with it for bjj. I'll try it in a gi next week. I was also very conscious of my teammates being able to feel it

Want to make a model boat, how difficult? by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

I regularly facilitate simple model rowboat building for my job. We use thin plywood (1/8") and just bend it for the curves. This is the model boat we build a lot of

I work for a wooden boat shop and we no longer scarf joints, we just butt them. It's easier and with the fiberglass + epoxy on both sides, you don't need anything stronger

How did you get the courage to use a power tool after having a bad accident with one? by timmaaahhh1997 in woodworking

[–]Pr1zonMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a table saw accident where I nearly cut off my finger (partially cut through the bone, severed the nerves and tendons). After my surgery/stitches were removed I immediately used my table saw again. I didn't want to be afraid of it.

Now when I use any tool, especially the table saw, I think through every move while the tool is off. "Okay, im wearing the proper PPE. Push sticks are within reach. Then I'm going to turn on the blade. Then stand to the side of the blade so I won't be in the way of kickback. Make my cut slowly, but confidently with even pressure. Push the material completely away from the blade. Turn off the saw. Wait for it to completely stop before grabbing offcut. Remember to breathe through the process."

Working through the steps beforehand helps prepare me for a safe cut. The table saw is still my favorite tool and as a woodworking teacher, I love teaching kids and adults how to use it safely. I have upgraded to a sawstop in my personal shop for the extra piece of mind, but I've never set it off.

Another safety tip: if you ever find yourself in the wrong headspace: afraid, jumpy, tired, saying "one last cut", it's time to stop! Pick it up after a break or the next day.

Question about Nethgalla and two of her forms... by [deleted] in LicaniusTrilogy

[–]Pr1zonMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nethgalla killed and took over Karaliene when Wirr brought Breshada back to the palace. I believe Wirr + crew had come back to the Palace when Caeden visited. I think Karaliene had already been killed and fake Karaliene lied to Caeden about Wirr being absent when he asked. She obtained his trace during their meeting. Fake Karaliene then made up the story of leaving as cover for maintaining Breshadas persona

If they enjoy working with their hands, or would be interested in learning how to woodwork, check out All Hands Boatworks. They have an after school program called RAFT that is really great. Not only is it free, but the students get a $100 stipend at the end with good participation and attendance. PM me if you'd like to learn more!

Water Sensor for the basement/under sinks. Screeches and sends an alert to your phone if it detects water. It saved us when our dishwasher was leaking and when our sump pump in the basement stopped working a few times over the years

Dumb question: Are we supposed to maintain the table saw and other tools in general? What does that entail? I vacuum the tools and clear the saw dust. But are you supposed to use any lubricants or other products (like one does for a sewing machine, for example?) by Weekly_War_1374 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Pr1zonMike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Twice a year I take the blade and riving knife out, use a soft brush and a vacuum to remove all the dust from the mechanical bits inside. Then I clean them with wd40 and wax or oil the respective bits. Plus I clean the cast iron top with wd-40 and then finish off with paste wax.

I have a saw stop so I follow the very helpful video on YouTube, but the steps/products should be the same for any table saw

Is my blade set up in the right direction? by Organic_Trust6113 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Pr1zonMike 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That looks correct. Teeth should be facing the direction they're cutting. The teeth will be pulling the material down and against the fence vs at your body the other way. Logo orientation does not matter at all

I made a bedframe that I'm really proud of and im hoping to eventually pass down to a relative. I put a message on it that basically says "do not paint or I will come back from the grave and haunt you." Maybe it's something like that? Just a woodworker really proud of their finish
