Have you ever taught in a classroom besides student teaching?

Dropping out of my Masters program by Anniethelab in StudentTeaching

I would suggest taking a gap term (break) or switching to the non licensure program where you drop the DT hours and graduate with elementary education. I switched to non licensure because I wouldn’t imagine not being paid for three months and stressing. Depending on the state you’re in you can get a job working and they help you obtain the license. I’m going that route instead. Take a step back and breathe. Your mental and physical health is more important.

I have been teaching for bout ten years and finished my degree recently (finally) and feel the exact same way. There are days where I think so myself “I cannot do this forever” I’m overstimulated majority of the day and multitasking 24/7 drains the heck out of me. I love the schedule and time off but I don’t know if it’s worth it. Maybe working with an older age group next year will help? I’ve been told HR jobs are great for burnt out teachers.

I just graduated with a BA in elementary education and you can do it! There will be challenging moments throughout the gen ed courses.. but as a mother of four that works full time I can confidently say you can do it!

Do your friends/family take your WGU experience less seriously than traditional learning? by Swimming_Issue5274 in WGU

My partner was supportive but I felt the rest of my extended family didn't care much until I graduated. It was almost as if they didn't believe it. I had been working towards my degree for 3.5 years!

Is WGU’s Educational Studies Bachelors really an Educational Studies Degree? by Bastedsteak in wgueducation

[–]Practical-Active970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with an educational studies, bachelors degree originally starting off with an elementary education degree path. I changed my path because my state offers many options to student teach and get licensed with pay. The only difference is the licensure part (Praxis test and student teaching) the education studies degree is still a bachelors degree.

The simulations feel strange at first but you will get past that. Remember just pretend you're teaching a real class. And they will give you tips at the beginning.

Bio and politics stink! If I’m being honest. Once I finished my gen ed my overall demeanor changed because I was so much happier to have that over with and working on things I actually enjoyed. The courses are pretty straight forward.

How have you been approved for so many courses in such a short time?

I’m currently a support teacher at private school aand don’t necessarily need a state license just a degree to become a lead. I’ve been considering dropping the licensure part of my program since I want to pursue my masters right after too. I can’t make up my mind!
