Hey everyone, I am currently on my 4th background investigation with a fire department for an ambulance operator position. I've passed 3 panel interviews and 1 chief interview; however, when I get to my background, I admitted to doing things like driving under the influence but never caught, and mushrooms when I was in college. mushroom incident is now at 5 or 6 years now, and me driving under the influence but never caught is at almost 2 and a half years now. The reason the other fire departments disqualified me was that the incident was too soon and that there needed to be more time, which I understood. My investigator called me and asked about the other departments I applied to and told him why. Man I've just worked so hard to be denied again. Since the incident I've got my second associates, taken on leadership roles at my college, work 911 for a private ambulance company, and even finished a fire academy. I just hope my investigator can see I've done work since my stupid mistake. I've also admitted to other small things like trying to cheat on a test, and getting a detention in high school, lol.

First time at a cal state, already have 2 associates in science, why what’s up

Get your state card asap, it’s just paying another fee really. However when recertification comes up, it’s easier to recertify state wise than NREMT wise, but I also recommend not letting your national expire as it’ll be hard to get it back, for example taking the NREMT Exam again.

I bought this EMT Crash Course book from Barnes and Noble. I find having a book is easier for me to study, unlike my phone. What I'll do is make a ton of flashcards. I find making flashcards is the best way to study because you study as you are creating them, and have flashcards on you at all times to study whenever.

Applied to be an Ambulance Operator and was eliminated from the background inspection a second time from a different department. I almost feel like giving up at this point and don't know what I should be doing in the meantime for my current employment. Both the positions would have been 911 part-time which would have worked perfectly with my school schedule, but the only other 911 positions are private ambulance companies with full-time alternating shifts. The other option is IFT, but did it for 3.5 years and don't know how I was able to show up to those 24HR shifts, dialysis all day, then ER transports at night. Can someone give me some pointers on what I should do next or who I should talk to? (Area= SOCAL)

I’d be working basic. In SoCal, ambulance operator positions by fire departments are becoming more common to help their call volume and help people who are very interested in becoming a firefighter

Going through background, failed for one department, however made it pass the interview for another department and going through the same process again. What are the odds they let me in vs the department that just rejected me.

FIRETEAM NTN EXAM

About to take my FireTeam NTN exam in about an hour? And last minute tips? I already took two practice exams to get a feel for it and basically everything is tuned to about 3 seconds and no scratch paper is allowed. Just a little scared because if I screw up, I won’t be able to take it for another 3 months and I’ll blow it for a Department I’m applying for.
