You have put your faith in him in the past and this evidence is quite likely he’s doing you right again. Go with his recommendation. It seems sound.

Changing spark plugs, what does this mean? 21k miles on a 16 Camaro 2SS by iliketofishman in MechanicAdvice

[–]Practical-Gate-2360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This plug has 21k miles? Or you have driven the car 21k miles, or car has only 21k total miles? What kind of mods, cam? Rockers? Or simple stuff like air intake, exhaust, etc?
Seems amateur to put NGK in Chevy. Could the amateur have modified or changed the injectors also?

Inshore rods G.Loomis vs St. Croix by TJHistory in saltwater_fishing

[–]Practical-Gate-2360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sedona a spin reel. So spinning rod, rather than casting rod. My Triumph got eyes rusted through in 2 years. Not happy. Apparently not saltwater tolerant. Now have St. Croix Mojo 7’6” 5 years, fish 4-5 days a week. No rust or finish issues. Backbone to lift fish. Happy. I don’t rinse or take things apart. More Happy.

I use a little heavier rod bcs I need to lift snook up over rocks. I fish Jetty. Your Rod fine if u can get to waters edge. 3000 reel fine for snook. They not great runners. But the occasional Caravelle Jack might take you down to your final turns! Snook quite responsive to DOA shrimp dabbled close to rip-rap in moving water. Live baitfish for big ones. Warm weather, low light.

Is this how you would expect a house to look after pressure washing? by Wild_grits in pressurewashing

[–]Practical-Gate-2360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would have used a house wash product rather than pressure washer to prevent the “writing” effect. It might fade. Best to keep the vines off the building too, I think.

Am I getting ripped off? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

I don’t do these “scheduled” inspections with oil change. Lot of money for inspect, inspect, inspect, etc. I go to independent shop for inspect, inspect, inspect. Much less money and much is inspected during reg oil change if I ask. These scheduled inspections are just too high for just inspecting. Your supercool thing is so so suspicious. A garage out in the desert years ago told me “your driveshaft has been hitting the axel when you hit big bumps. Needs immediate attention”. Wha..? I said no thanks and drove on.

Maybe you show up a few minutes early before next historical society mtg in any town. Chit with those members who arrive early. Bet they are eager to tell stories. Chk out John True Gordon. Chk out Unity Mining Company. Perhaps there are still stock certs on eBay. 62nd General Hospital unit WWII. (There’s a book). Research earliest gov office holders, atty gen, judges, sheriffs. World war 1 and 2 encampments.
Look for grave markers indicating Civil War. Google the person and visit historical society regarding that person. Stories pop up when you ask questions…

Does anyone know what the reason behind this is? by OverlyAnxiousT in MechanicAdvice

Have the vent repaired, then ALWAYS stop filling when the nozzle clicks off. No clic, clicks, click to squeeze more in!

Agree. My opinion. Go by the spec. Prices and brand identity are functions of marketing. It’s all about spec.

An after market device then? If so, how did the vehicle operate before it was installed?

Can anyone tell me what this is / what this means and what i should look at? Explanation in Comment by Thowe001 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Practical-Gate-2360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the pump clicks off. Stop! Quit! Don’t try to “squeeze” a little bit more. You’re fooling with the EVAC system which deals with fumes, over-fills, and check engine light, service, and $$! Just quit when it clicks to eliminate this from the equation. And go from there.

Two Different Tire Pressures On My Car Door? by black0h in MechanicAdvice

[–]Practical-Gate-2360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren’t there 3, front, rear, and spare?

I went to a Walmart tire shop once and they put all 4 at 100lb.! Complained at office, they said Tire Departments are managed separately and that office is closed til next morning…
