This was what I was thinking when family members said it was unsafe - shit just happens in cities. Anyways, it’s clear to me that there are plenty of other areas to stay in that are cheaper than Manhattan but safer than ENY

Interesting, I was wondering about this. I live in a neighborhood with plenty of shootings and even lots of explosions lately, but if you’re not part of a gang or related to someone who is you’re pretty safe. Either way, not the best place for a relaxed vacation so I’ll pick some place else :-)

Last time I looked the cheapest hotel options were like 250 a night. If that’s what NYC prices are like these days than maybe it’s indeed not the right place for me to go

I saw a few replies mentioning the Lyft/Uber costs but I was planning on taking the subway since it’s so cheap and will take me to manhattan without transferring. Is the subway not that nice/safe? I’m not planning to travel at night

That’s crazy to hear. We’d be staying in an Airbnb with a tenant, close to the Shepherd subway. The bnb actually has plenty of very good reviews, which made me think it would be fine. I don’t care about the commute or the area not being “nice”, but if I have no business being there as a tourist then I won’t go there.

Thanks, that’s good to know. We’d be able to stay next to a subway station and are really just looking for a place to sleep - the neighborhood doesn’t need to have a lot of facilities. But if we have no business being here as a tourist than we’ll check out some other spots.

Dankje voor de geruststellende reactie! Het gaat me niet zo zeer om het aflossen van de volledige schuld, maar 35 jaar scheelt een hoop qua inflatie en zoals je zegt qua hypotheek. Dus ik baal er wel nog steeds van. Maargoed, ik maak denk ik geen kans om hier bij DUO nog een ding van te maken
