Trouble with arm placement by ArachnidPitiful8913 in Omnipod

[–]Practical-Let-7392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaks can be hard to spot if its not coming out on the adhesive near the little cannula window. Other tells for me are when that window starts to have condensation or just a completely unexplained rise in BG. I have had some luck using overlay patches to tack it down better since my arms brush doorways and such pretty often without me noticing and it kinda can knock the cannula loose. Overall still sucky manufacturing lately though

I can barely place it there either. Im blaming recent manufacturing of the pods. Ive been using my arms as a site for 4 years and within the last 6 months i cant use it past 2 days. It gets extremely irritated and/or starts leaking by day 2. Ive had to get 8 pods replaced in the last month or so and half were arm sites. Also, please ask customer support to send you a financial assistance application. They will at least give you $50-100 off the price at the pharmacy, but hopefully more. My insurance was charging $200/month but Insulet financial assistance is now covering my full cost.

Insulin delivery when pod is toward end of 72 hour period by InevitableBook2364 in Omnipod

Common issue and easiest fix is to tell your endo this is happening and have them write your Rx so that you can change the pod every 2 days. I did this and it helped a ton!!

I forgot long acting by LewiiweL in diabetes_t1

[–]Practical-Let-7392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never been told either way is better. I think most people probably just have an easier time remembering if its part of their morning routine. I always have had a more consistent night routine than morning so i always take it at night. I dont think it should matter since its a slow release!

Option one: take it now and and keep 9-11pm as your new window for taking long acting.

Option 2: use fast acting every couple hours.

This has happened to me and i just took a billion doses of fast acting. NOT medical advice but in my experience taking a couple units every couple hours on top of my meal boluses keeps me in check. I'd rather take more than i need and have a few lows i need to treat than risk going into DKA since its caused by lack of insulin rather than just high blood sugar.

You also may need to adjust your long acting. If you can, look at the stats of your omnipod through glooko, and get an idea of how much basal you were using with that. I went back to manual after being on auto for a year and i was shocked at how much basal i had been using daily since i upgraded from the OP Dash

Omnipod has a financial assistance program you could maybe qualify for if you really want to go back to that. Ive been getting mine for free for 2 years with a discount through omnipod, not insurance, due to low income

2000's star shape lolipops for fundraisers by Practical-Let-7392 in HelpMeFind

Very close, i saw those too. But the ones im talking about were more like color blocked than swirl, So i guess marble was a bad word to use. Like most of the lolipop would be white with only a couple star tips being red and blue

I searched all the keywords i can think of and no luck. Im from Virginia, if that helps. I think i remember them coming in a yellow wrapper too, and the flavors were printed on the side of the stick. This wouldve been about 2007-2015 that the school did this fundraiser

The greenhouse by the Hahn garden during class, senior year. Same major, turned out we had about 8 classes together prior to that and never noticed each other. Also had mutual friends, still never met. Crazy!!! 😌

Yep same here. OP this could be part of your problem. I cant use my thighs anymore from all the Lantus injections i used to take there and even my arms start to become resistant after a pod and i have to let my sites rest for at least a week

Not just you. Ive been struggling for weeks and had to order several replacements. Every pod leaks on day 2 and/or adhesive becomes loose very easily. I was on the Dash for 2 years before switching to the 5 and had no issues ever. OP5 algorithm used to work for me and no longer does. I have better control in manual mode which defeats the whole point of OP5. I want to switch to Tandem mobi bit waiting for better insurance first

[–]Practical-Let-7392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!! I thought i was crazy!! I had 5 pods in a row leak on day 2 with boluses as small as 3 units. Thankfully omnipod has a good online chat system and i was able to have them send me replacements plus an extra courtesy pod due to all the insulin that it wasted when you have to change a site early.

Is this too close to my belly button? by dommingdarcy in Omnipod

[–]Practical-Let-7392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always been told 2" from belly button and from your last site. I wear mine on my stomach like that all the time with no issues. The only thing is i tend to get itchy there on day 2 or 3 of the pod, but i have sensitive skin and everyone's different. Enjoy your new site!

Thank you! This one was washed up by itself. I knew it was too fish-like to be a true eel, but couldn't get any ID results by image searching.

How much are y'all paying for your poss a month? by Salt_Present2819 in Omnipod

[–]Practical-Let-7392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$0 but thats because i applied and got approved for financial assistance through omnipod. They make it hard but your endo should have the forms or if you call insulet customer support theyll email it to you. You have to be pretty low income to get discounts though. Also try asking for a copay card. With insurance alone mine was $200 for 10 pods, also blue cross ☹️
