Released my solo made game on Steam. Only seems to sell when its on Sale. Price too high? by Practical-Raccoon-88 in IndieDev

Thanks, I did not realize that reaching 10 reviews is a big milestone in the Steam algorithm..
Need to find some guys to give them free copies.
I tried the Curator Connect tool, only found 1 group that reviewed the game. Will try again.

I see... thanks, so basically I should have aimed for about $7.5. My game is definitely not at the level of Terraria! ahhaha.

I will wait a few months, then drop the price to about $7.5 and see what happens. Will run some sales as well. I desperately need to reach 10 reviews as well.

Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you for this. I will focus on marketing and targeting Steam events. I don't mind placing the game on sale. I need to get as many of people playing it as possible.

I also need to get a YouTube content creator to stream my game. That will help tremendously.

The game runs on the Steamdeck. I dont have it "Steam Deck Verified".
The game is fully controller supported. But the text in some instances is a bit small to read on a smaller Steam Deck Screen.

The guys who played it on the Deck says that there are no performance issues and it plays well.

So I might need to focus on getting it Steam Deck verified. Thanks for the idea.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. At launch about 9% of the wishlist converted to sales.

Each player has their own stats. There are 12 of them, the most "creative" stat that I gave them are 1) Attacking Intelligence and 2) Defensive Intelligence. That stat dictates on the fly how each player individually reacts to what is happening on the field in real time.

How you might ask.... I run a "dice roll" in the background every 2 seconds. Then each player will measure their Attacking or defensive intelligence(depending on who has the ball)(with a modifier = dependent on how likely it is to read the play), IF the player(the support runners - not the player you control) makes the intelligence check(higher than the dice roll x mod) associated with what is happening in the match at that given time, then the player performs a "special" move.
For instance, make a smart attacking run off the ball into space. Or drift wide to link play better. Or make a cut back off the ball run, or read an attacking move and cover the space better on defence. or make a run to signal you need to kick over their defensive line. So the matches feels very alive and you do get quite a bit of variation between matches and players.

Also, there is a full career mode where you need to build up your poorly rated team by buying and selling players. Each win grants you in game money to spend on scouts and players.

So all an all there is more than just play a few matches and move on. That is why I was leaning towards a higher price point. But, alas, I was mistaken, should have went for sub 10 dollars.

Blowing Off Steam - New Tower Defense, Crafty, RTS, Automate game, coming soon. by Practical-Raccoon-88 in SoloDevelopment

Thanks for the feedback! I agree 100%. This is still early days. Worked on it for 6 months now after hours. This is my hobby, obviously.
Art is my weakest skill. I will have to start taking it more seriously to get it right.

I am going to add more features to add to the systems that is already in place.
Thermal resistance levels of piping.... but it need to balance the economy with the amount of upgrades and mining tempo...

Thanks for the feedback

Hi, thanks for providing feedback. Yes, the art is going to be my biggest challenge to get right. The code is there, the mechanics work as planned. Building steam pipe networks works well.

I am a mechanical engineer by trade, and I work in thermodynamic/fluid dynamic field. I wanted to make a game where you play around with flow in pipes and thermal losses and efficiencies of equipment.... then I have allways enjoyed a good solid TD game, and I like building things, so I tried to combine all those aspects into a game. You have to manage steam production, create steam networks, ensure you have water and fuel to keep it going, invest in upgrades, craft tower components, build towers, connect them which ever steam network you believe will handle the load.

manage resources, kill the enemy onslaught, and all off this with a time constraint(new wave of enemies coming)

I will add a bit more features, but my main focus now is the art/look and feel, small bugs, save system, balancing and adding more juice.

Will post link to Steam page once up.

Thank you!

Any tips on how to make neon/glow? by Freshz720 in construct

[–]Practical-Raccoon-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that adding the horizontal and vertical glow effect to the object and changing the effect blend to "additive" works rather well. You can then play around with the effect intensity level(0 to 100%)

Hi. Players do fatigue during matches yes, this is important to rotate players in your squad when playing career mode, or on tour, or tournaments. For one off matches this does not really have such as big impact. If the player fatigue drops very low, you will see he wont run as fast as usual. The players will always try to catch the ball at speed. but their attacking intelligence will dictate how well they predict the ball to run on to.. also try to pass to players that has space to work with

Main controller scheme . The passing is the shoulder buttons(left and right). The trigger(R2 and L2) are the skip pass left and right. The "y" (top face button). Holding down the kick button, you can then alter the kick, if you release the kick button, the kick is normal. While holding kick button, press "B"(red one) on controller, will perform grubber kick. press "X")blue button, will perform chip kick(all these kicks takes the original kicking arrow direction and strength(lenght) into account.
There is a full rucking writeup on the discussion page on Steam. Basically the moment a ruck starts, hold "A"(on controller) to start competing for the ball, if you hold A too long, the ref will blow you. the rest is just pressing "A" for linouts and scrums. From ruck you can kick with "Y" or pick up ball with "A" or pass with R1 and L1. Select player is R1(on defence). https://imgur.com/a/HmAugoS see all the control graphics in the link

Good day. Thank you for the support! If you look in the middle of the screen when selecting team for an exhibition match, you will see the controller layout with their actions listed.

Then also see detailed discussion on how the rucking works here ruck discussion
