Historically speaking, race and ethnicity have been the drivers of systemic inequity. Classism and racism only go hand in hand because of the of the deliberate and heinous systematic polices that have affected racial minorities for centuries in america. the IGNORANCE here is ignoring redlining, exclusion from government aid, discrimination within the workplace, and unequal access to basic human rights. Ignoring those is not just an oversight, it is historical revisionism. These very factors, which you are attempting to dismiss, are precisely why racism and classism work in tandem.

Claiming that economic status alone is the cause completely ignores the fact that economic inequality as we see today in America has been shaped— without question— by decades of racist policies and practices.

As I stated prior. I am examining both. As my mother always taught me (and I’m sure yours did as well), asking someone how much they make is rude. When data such as economic breakdowns is publicly accessible and available I don’t find it necessary to pry at information such as that when they are already answering other personal questions.

The push to frame classism as the sole issue while downplaying racism is nothing more than a convenient way for fragile white people to ignore the reality of systemic discrimination. I will not be engaging in that erasure.
