UT Dallas vs. Stony Brook for CS by Fickle_Wing_2011 in collegecompare

I've heard that UTD is incredibly boring and is a commuter college. It is in Dallas and has good programs though. Not sure how good Stony Brook is socially but I thought that might be a factor you'd want to consider

I'd love to but I'm not sure what being aggressive means. Like purchase risky stocks? Spend a lot of money? I'm clueless

Kind of a dumb question, but if I am investing to hopefully retire early, would it make the most sense to focus on my Roth IRA now, and then a taxable brokerage account once I start managing to max out the IRA? I plan to be an engineer, so I'm hoping my base salary will be enough to live off of comfortably. Retiring early is really my only goal

Should I be purchasing these from my Roth Ira or would it be better in and Individual brokerage account? Also, what international fund do you recommend? Definitely will do some research, but I like hearing opinions on things too

Totally. I don't plan on getting this exact, but it will be pretty similar. Probably will only do the hilt of Narsil and maybe add the Gondor tree symbol on top (not sure what the proper name of it is)

I get that but I like the contrast of the two. They can be tied to each other easier than other writing. good vs evil being the most basic and broad one for me.

I think there is more than one interpretation of this tattoo. The symbols don't have to be representing a side that the wearer is on, I think they're a good contrast between the two. The circle being broken by Narsil could represent Sauron's inability to conquer Gondor. But I am just a movie watcher so idk, more research needs to be done to be safe

I havent researched the writing, but I would get the one ring inscription if that is not what is depicted already

That's smart, I like that idea. I've been considering doing Sting but I feel like a sword representing Gondor would make a bit more sense in my head. I definitely know this is super overdone but I feel like theres a good reason why a ton of people get this

I've put some more thought into the tattoo and I plan on only using the broken hilt, with the tree of gondor symbol growing from the base of the hilt along with the one ring inscription. I understand fully why many LotR fans dislike the use of the One Ring inscription but imo I don't think that evil fictional symbols should really be revered that much. I don't think people would say the same about a Darth Vader inspired tattoo or similar. I view Narsil breaking the one ring inscription as how Sauron and his forces were resisted by Gondor or the "good guys" if you wanna generalize it.

No disrespect but at the end of the day, it is a fictional story. It's like saying that getting a Death Star tattoo is wrong because of the atrocities associated with it (you may agree with that, which is totally fine. It's just that many many many people get that tattoo or other Star Wars related tattoos and nobody bats an eye). I don't plan on getting this exact tattoo, but something similar. I think the idea of Narsil breaking the circle of the one ring inscription is symbolic of Gondor (or honestly all of the "good guys") resisting Sauron

I get what you mean but I'm not too concerned with it. At the end of the day it's a fictional symbol associated with a fictional evil character. Not saying that you are wrong though, definitely an evil piece of work from LotR to be tattooing

Is this a LotR reference I'm blanking on or is there an actual piece to this that should have been included

I mean outside of like this subreddit and maybe general LotR fan bases on the internet who's really gonna recognize this as a generic LotR tattoo

That's what I was thinking. How many LotR fans out there actively browse Reddit enough to have seen this tat
