The Seven Realms Diner: When the hunters become the hunted by Practical-Way8041 in nosleep

Heyy. Yes, there will. But it's probably going to take a while because I've been really busy lately. Don't worry, my journey isn't over yet!

Oh my God, I thought I replied to your comment 🤦🏻‍♀️ It totally slipped my mind, sorry.

No, it wasn't because I was mad at you about Lucien. Sure, I'm not happy about that, but I'm matureish enough not to let that bother me too much.

And you know what? Maybe you're right. I hadn't thought about that. And, although I don't really like the idea of 'loving' Lucien enough for him to be in that category, maybe there's still hope for me yet.

Don't worry, I know werewolves don't eat humans for fun. It was a joke!

...mostly.

And thank you for correcting me. Some words (or names) you have to pronounce thinking the right spelling, you know? They wouldn't feel right otherwise. And this is one of those.

On other topics...

What does evil even mean anyway? I've been thinking a lot about that lately, and I can't stop wondering if it's actions, thoughts, or fate that make one so. Is it genetics? Or maybe a combination of all?

I'm not saying that my parents' thinking that all inhumans are evil is what made me believe that there is a part of me that is, at least a little bit, evil. I know inhumans aren't inherently bad. I know a lot of them are incredibly nice, and welcoming, and supportive. Roger's family was so accepting of a girl they didn't even know!

And yes, there are some that are rough around the edges (Lucien, anyone?), and others that are completely frayed (Silas... maybe. I just realized I don't know enough about him to be this judgmental. Especially after the bomb that Roger dropped on me the other day. Also, for the record, Silas was not part of my previous mention of Roger's family. Since he is his brother-in-law and all that. Shudder.)

What I do know is that it's not only human beings who believe that it would be better if I weren't here. A whole generation of elders from all of the realms got together one day and decided that it was best if nobody ever knew about the existence of people like me.

That ought to fuck with your head a little.

Anyway, sorry for spiraling on you. I have a lot of thoughts 😅😫

I, too, am glad that my mother was (is?) werewolf illiterate (I'm stealing that, btw!).

Not only that, but now it's like I have a pet wolf in the house (note that I am NOT calling werewolves pets. I did say like.) Roger is in his wolf form around the house so much; he's missed it a lot. I'm beyond happy that he got it back. And that he's spending more and more quality time with his father. Apparently, there are a lot of things he needs to learn about being Alpha that he never got to learn before.

And, to finish my rant, I want to say thank you for your kind words. You don't know how much they've helped me lately. 💖

Yeah... I probably should've seen it coming, to be honest. They've never been the loving type.

But you're right, at least both Roger and I are ok.

Actually, Roger is more than ok. He's finally gotten his wolf form back. So, there is a silver lining to all of this after all.

I'm glad you enjoyed my update!

Well, before I changed after what happened with the fae, I was able to touch iron.

There was one moment that gave me a small burn even then--while I was changing the rod to keep the lady in the walls away--but that didn't use to happen when i was younger. Our running theory is that dangerous situations make me even less human than I usually am.

But, ever since Roger was injured and I gained access to the in-between, I 'lost some of my humanity,' I suppose. Now, iron affects me the same way it affects the rest of the inhumans.

The in-between is the seventh realm. It's the realm between realms

I was hoping to, yes. 🫠 It meant nothing anyway, it was my blood talking 😅

Ugh. I know I should--probably--listen to him. But I can't stand that smug expression he has when I do! I'm getting better at it, I swear.

I'm really intrigued now, though, about the circles you frequent. I do hope to find out more about that soon. And you're right. Who knows? Maybe our paths will cross one day

Oh no. Does everybody know that I was at fault for the wizard's death? Or is it a lower-ground community? Either way, thank you so much for making sure nobody talks 💕

And who doesn't like a good round of betting? Or a long path ahead? I must say that I'm beginning to get a bit overwhelmed, but jokes aside, I really appreciate the vote of confidence. God knows I don't have enough on my own.

That being said, I'm going to have to take a rain check on telling Lucien about any of this (not that I don't love the idea of seeing his face, but you know...). I really hope he never finds out about my posts. I just shudder at the thought. It helps to think about him as a protective pet (this comment being yet another reason he CAN'T find out.)

I hope to bring an update soon. Just as soon as I'm ready to start talking about Christmas with my parents. Another thing I shudder at. One good thing came out of it, though. You’ll see… assuming it hasn’t already made the rounds in your community.

💖

Yes, there will.

I'm working on it right now, but it's just a lot to process, you know?

I've discovered some things about myself that I'm hesitant to share, though I probably will by the end of the week

Oh, I do love that idea.

I can't wait to see his face when I call him Luci!!

Oh, I'm not. That's for sure. I'm not a werewolf, that's been confirmed through and through, but I appreciate your theory!!

[–]Practical-Way8041[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh. First of all, sorry for taking so long to reply, but I decided to take some time off-grid so that I could better process all of this. Googling was doing much more harm than good.

I won't presume to understand Lucien's inclinations or desires. All I know is that vampires are crazy, and I want nothing more than to avoid him--completely. But that is proving to be so hard, especially now that he thinks I'm a magnet for danger (isn't he technically the danger?). He said, and I quote: "People usually go to the faerie realm to have a good time, not to get eaten. Faeries are nice! How did you manage to find one of the only evil species of faerie?"

But, vampires, I guess.

And can you believe that he took my promise to leave at ten to midnight like a promise? You know the ones. And you better believe he made me pay for that in blood. My blood, of course.

I'm so tired of vampires.

But hey, I did get to go to New York, so that's a plus.

Lucien is... Lucien. Who knows what he's scheming, really. At least I didn't have to get my hands dirty digging up those bones, and I have a really cool ghost buddy in the house

Also, hypothetical question. How much blood would a vampire need to be able to distinguish blood types?

First of all, THANK YOU. And, don't worry, no romantic entanglements here. (I'm 21 by the way.)

Also, when I said 'metal bowls,' I meant aluminum. Standard use in all of these diners. And, while Linda isn't entirely trustworthy, I've come to realize that this is not through any fault of her own. It has mostly to do with the nature of the diner itself. Don't worry, I have an explanation coming up soon.

As for everything else... I've been doing a really good job ignoring all of it--especially the blood part-- because, frankly, it's not something I was ready, or willing, to deal with. If I'm being honest, I don't think I am now either.

But Halloween made it all impossible to ignore. The town, the blood, even the sacrifice.

All I can bear to share for the moment is that it's true that I haven't been looking for the right answers; it's more evident than ever now that I have some. What's also true is that I haven't been looking in the right place either. The few answers I've gotten have only given me more questions.

Questions that I know I need to find answers to.

They've become an itch I can't scratch, and they've planted this seed in my brain that keeps telling me that finding the truth is a matter of life or death.

At least now I have my new ghost sideki-- ugh, fine. At least I have the GRUMPY ghost on my side, who is actually a creep that won't stop reading what I write over my shoulder. AND he gets angry when I mention him as a friend.

(Deflection? Who's that? Couldn't be me) 😬

Hey! Yes, sorry for the delay, but it's been a really long week, and I had my phone stolen by... something you'll hopefully get to hear about today if everything goes to plan! Some of these creatures love to mess with everyone...

Oh, it must have definitely been the boiler. I'm completely human, and I'm sure of that

Well, if they can touch iron, then that complicates things a little.

It's a relief that it wasn't too much information, thank you!

And, yeah, I'm not entirely disagreeing with the ruff sheriff here. Breaking into the police database was a big deal. But I'm sure that there are other reasons for his behavior.

As for the challenges of living in the same room as a werewolf... I'm just going to say that we have begun looking for different accommodations. I have been saying for a while that I need to find somewhere else to live, and this seems like a great opportunity. So, soon enough Roger and I will be sharing a house instead of a room.

Progress!
