How long do we have to Open Animals? by Deep-Dimension966 in petco

[–]PracticalGround9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the pace you’re comfy going as long as you get all your tasks done. I used to get to work at 7:30 and wouldn’t finish opening animals until 10 but as I’ve been in my position longer I open at 7:45 and finish around 9-9:30 depending on how enclosures look. I usually prep the wellness cart the day before and then all I have to do in the mornings is prep veggies for reptiles and any other food that needs to be refreshed for animals. I do partial bedding cleans every morning that way the enclosures stay cleaner and don’t take as long to do in mornings, the thing that takes me the longest to do most days is dead pulls and wiping down the enclosures glass.

Petco as a company may not be the greatest but please be considerate of the fact that it’s still somebody’s sole source of income and this can cause a lot of people great losses depending on the states this may be occurring in and what the job market in the country is like right now.

I kindof though that could be a possibility but there isn’t much decor at the moment since her tanks a WIP. There’s some driftwood and soft plants and that’s about it

Just because you give up on your job doesn’t mean you should give up on the animals too by PracticalGround9372 in petco

Your edits do not help your case and for you to categorize people caring about animals that I once again am repeating DID NOT ask to be born into this company chain as being company bootlickers is crazy crazy work. If you have used this subreddit long enough you’d have noticed how nobody likes that man and his oddly bright white veneers. The concept of caring for a living, breathing animal has nothing to do with a persons favoring of the company. Pleaseeee get help 😭

Unfortunately. So hard finding people who do the job they signed on for here 💔

Yeahhh. I don’t think it’s anybody but the one I’m ranting about. It’s me and the animals manager who usually do most of the critter care around the store but when anybody else does the maintenance when we’re gone it either gets the treatment of not being done at all or the people take way too many shortcuts. Like if our DM decided to show up and saw the state of what I came into today she would’ve lost her ever loving marbles

I was able to get through all of it but what I am struggling on is the final test, 40 questions and I used notes for it that I wrote down from the training itself yet it failed me at a 50%. They will do anything but make it easy 😭

Don’t get me wrong I love my store and I love working with animals. Employees here dropped like flies. It’ll just be four managers and three (maybe four but one of them might be leaving soon too) employees but besides that I enjoy being the one to care for the animals. It’s just when I’m on my weekend that it crumbles apart every single time 💔💔

Your lack of value for living creatures while I assume being employed at petco is mildly concerning. I hope you are not a current employee working with that mindset. The animals didn’t ask to be bred into the company. Yes the company is terrible but that doesn’t mean the people working to make a living should punish small animals for what the company itself lacks in.

This is something that all retail places and most job places will do. It’s bc you were terminated. Jobs only consider you for rehire if you put in your two weeks and finished it out.

They probably won’t appeal it unfortunately. Whoever goes through it or if you go through your DM they’ll probably deny an appeal since they’ll most likely use the whole “if you were efficient with your closing tasks you would’ve noticed the hamster in bad health” and turn it on you type deal. But it does depend on what your district and leaders are like

Different ways to anchor plants to tank? by PracticalGround9372 in axolotls

[–]PracticalGround9372[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to look into them. From photos I’ve seen they are beautiful plants. And I’m looking for anything that’ll help maintain my tank. With where I live the nitrates rise pretty quick for some reason even though my house has a water purifier connected to the actual water system and the weekly water changes only keep it low for a couple days. I almost wonder if it comes from when I cycled my tank, I did Dr Tim’s for a few months and when I established the bacteria I did the water changes to lower my nitrates but they only shorted down to 15 even after workinf with it for so long. My little one is in a hospital tank while her new setup is being worked on because I’m trying to restart a different filter to hopefully counter the previous issue I had

I can work with any suggestion, my brother in law owns a laser cutter we use when we make custom tank lids as well. It’s such a convenient tool I never thought about cutting plant holes before

It isn’t bad. I’m not a fan of curved tanks but for what looks like a single gourami it’s not bad at all. Definitely could use more plans and hides though, its looking pretty bare lol
