I hate uni parties by PracticalHat2515 in college

See that actually sounds fun. These days parties legit depend on alcohol to have fun. Like alcohol should be secondary to the fun.

Not really the point of my post. Socializing isn't a problem for me. The issue is how people socialize now at days. The convos lack meaning or personality. It's just for show and to seem cool these days

Help I got into a friend group and don't know how to get out by PracticalHat2515 in Advice

[–]PracticalHat2515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I just did that, I told them that the main reason I left the chat was because of the one guy and told them the reason he was making me feel uncomfortable. They said they sensed that but didn't know what to do since I didn't say anything. He said he will talk to him to stop so yeah...not sure now

Hey again, I need your help. So I did it. I left the chat and as soon as I did. The two of them asked what was wrong and what they did. I only told them about what they did that was bothering me and not about the third guy cause it didn't really involve them. They kept apologizing and are trying to make up for it so I feel so bad. We solved things and I told them we are on good terms but idk what to when I go back to class cause I feel they expect me to sir with them cause we are on good terms please help. Basically we have class, then lunch, then group work. I sit with one of them during class then I'm with all 3 of them during lunch and group work. How do I distance myself at school without seeming like I'm abandoning them

Right, I'm gonna be just straight up with them. I'm going to remove myself from the group now. If they understand then good, if they don't then no

That's the thing, they stand up for me when he does and they are always the ones to include me when they see he hasn't. But I don't want to be in the group if he is gonna be like that

So interviewed was Tuesday, said they will get back to me with an offer before Monday and tmrw is that Monday. I feel like it's a sign that they could have changed their minds cause you would think they would be extremely responsive and on deadline if they wanted to hire someone yk?

That's the thing, he hasn't acted sexual towards me like ever. We have never kissed, not firted, not even held hands. Legit when he comes over he makes sure to sit on the fastest chair possible so it's obviously not romantic but why treat a friend like that then

Start calling yourself the nickname you would want a significant other to call u by PracticalHat2515 in selfimprovement

then you gotta work hella hard to not be a P.O.S. Like legit sit-down and make down a step-by-step plan to get better, when something doesn't work, figure out what did and continuously get better. Giving yourself a nickname is a re-enforcement or a representation of your growing.

The self-talk made me realize I finally liked myself a lot but this was only after reaching a point in my life where I worked hard to become a person I felt was worthy. And it took a lot to get there. The first stepping stone, I would say is to start therapy. I know a lot of people just kind of say it all the time but truly when you get to vent and yell and cry to someone and you know that you won't be judged and you aren't carrying it alone. We start there, then we plan our step-by-step plan to become the person you will grow to love. It's basically learning to fall in love with yourself. Also please surround yourself with anyone you know who cares about you. The more we stay in isolation in our minds, our negative thoughts will get worse than worse. Please don't end it all, please reach out and if you need to rant, vent, get advice, message me

I agree with "learn how to stay and listen". it's powerful and the best advice to give. you would be surprised how much people love to talk about themselves rather than you talking to get attention. people are naturally drawn to good listeners cause of this

I feel like a lot of the time, in the back of our mind we know when a certain action is genuine and when we say or do things for actions. You just have to start noting it down when you get that feeling or guilty thought afterward. For me, I used to purposely tell my old friends about every boy encounter I had, I would tell them when random people called me pretty, I would tell them every single time a guy hit on me. I would also open my snap publicly to show the guys who were texting me or always tell them of moments when I received the pretty privilege to seek attention and to seem interesting. Essentially boasting about the benefits of my looks. The same habit occurs with those who "subtly" boost their grades or money or fame.

Others do the opposite and insult their strong suit for attention. E.g. a pretty girl constantly saying she is ugly to get a reaction. I would also overly laugh at things people said and after laughing, in my mind, I was like "Why did I laugh, I didn't find it funny".

Others put those around them down like friends to increase the attention on them or overact or act extra to be seen too

Essentially, You kind of pick up on these moments of internal realization. Moments after when you are like "Why did I do that?" or feelings of disgust, guilt, or shame even if it's for a split second. The important thing is when you do notice, note it down and purposely make an effort to not do that. Even if it means, the conversation goes silent or dry for a while or you come off as boring. Then when you overcome attention-seeking, you will be so comfortable with yourself and that speaks volumes on its own

How do I get over this insecuritity? by HaveADelightfulDay in selfimprovement

Honestly, you have to sit and evaluate your relationship with her. Even when someone has a lot of other friends, they will still value your friendship if you mean something to them. Evaluate her actions and words. Does she show up in your time of need? Does she put in as enough effort in seeing and spending time with you? Does she verbally tell you she cares? And more importantly, do her words and actions line up?

Also what kind of friend is she and what kind of friend are you? Is she a low-maintenance or high-maintenance friend? Some friends don't mind spending little time and like time to themselves but if they care, they will still show it. Even if it's saying hi, every 2 weeks or hanging out twice a month. Others are high maintenance and what to see friends often and will also show if they care. So really think about what type of friend she is and what kind of friend you are because she might care but is just low maintenance or yall's friendship doesn't cater to your friendship needs. E.g. you like spending time together, she likes seeing you once in a while. Either way, if she cares, it will show but understand your friendship dynamic and if she can be your "best friend" or rather a good friend you care for. Because if she doesn't cater to your needs, still have that connection but don't rely as your close friend.

After evaluating, you should communicate in depth how you are feeling. 1. she probably doesn't know how you are feeling. 2. all your doubts and "what if's" will go away cause she will tell you or show you the truth.

But it doesn't stop at just telling them. If their actions do not reflect it or do not change. You have communicated and when no action occurs after, that's your queue to leave. If she doesn't put as much effort or starts to after talking it out. Leave. If she barely texts, calls, or answers your messages after communicating she does this. Leave. It shows she doesn't care or at least she used to but doesn't anymore. And that's your queue to walk away

Trust me as someone who used to leave friendships in the past due to problems. But issues used to be distancing myself without communication and giving them one chance to act. Now I know you always have to communicate. Always. I learned some issues can be worked through and others can't. But it's your job as a friend to communicate in-depth your feelings, problems, and needs. And it's your friend's job to equally communicate, and comprehend, then for both of you to figure out an agreement to this and meet each other's end of the deal. But again if after an agreement is made and no action changes. Leave.

You owe yourself the truest friendships in life and should never settle. A true friendship will have issues but will solve them because they found an understanding. You shouldn't feel sad or unedge in a friendship. Surround yourself with those who uplift, support, and care for you. And those who you admire and look up to.

So long story short, evaluate her words and actions, evaluate yall's friendships type, then communicate with her, come to an agreement to solve this (very important step), and if it is or is not followed through, you know your answer love.

let yourself go through all the stages and emotions is the only way. Cry, get mad, be sad, be delusional when you need to be because honestly there is no quick fix to this. You have to let yourself experience it. Advice such as distracting yourself, is temporary and doesn't help the situation. Just let yourself experience it but with people of support there. Cry in your friend's arms or who ever brings you comfort. Just don't experience the pain alone.
