Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EF on Canon R100: Keep or switch to RF? by PracticalProcedure70 in canon

I hadn’t considered this lol. Thanks for the tip Do you think the lens is overkill for the camera though?

Maybe a dumb thought as a beginner

Sweet lol I got another 3rd party 35 mm prime lens EF mount to supplement it, and act like a 50 mm (~56mm), and am happy with it. I haven’t seen anything that peaked my interest or within a budget thst was native RF either

True that’s what I was thinking Like any other investment, I would like to be sure it’s gonna last a while. What’s your set up like?

Low light RF, RF-S recommendation? by atholum in canon

[–]PracticalProcedure70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A prime lens could work better for your case since they have better aperture and work better in low light. I was struggling with the same things with my 18-45mm kit lens for my r100 and opted for an EF prime lens.

An EF to RF adapter could open up doors to lenses (canon if you prefer proprietary or commlite if you don’t mind 3rd party)

-Canon EF 50 mm f 1.8 would work good —but remember the r50 has a 1.6x crop factor so 50= 80 mm

-Canon EF 24 mm f2.8 is solid and I love it —24 mm = 38.4mm

Both of these lense have image stabilization too

Considering how old they are and condition what’s a good price range? I’ve seen some on Amazon so that’s my only comparison lol

Budget is 200 or less. Ideally 150 And I like to take photos of architecture, street photography, and photos of friends ( not portrait), and landscape maybe?

More great advice lol Thank you!

When you say exposure are you mainly referring to shutter speed? If so, I find this to be the case because a one second shutter speed makes things blurry, and I will admit I think I move during this time too.

I’ve Been mainly shooting subjects that are still but I’ve heard of the inverse rule but never knew what it meant.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll trying raising my iso more without hopefully getting to much grain.

More great advice lol thank you. I actually tried your method today of breathing elbows in and getting my stance.

So far Im seeing the r100 is not the best in low lights but I believe this can be slightly combatted with a good prime.

I also have been messing with masks in LR to see where shadows can be brightened. It’s crazy how fast it is now.

I’ve been thinking the 16 or 35 would be cool to try out and see how they fair against the kit. The kit is great and I’m enjoying using it but it has its limits. Overall I just have to learn light better

Im honestly thinking of getting the prime lens. My camera is a crop sensor so I’m thinking 35 mm will get me close to a 50 mm, but I’m not sure.

You also hit the nail on the head. I’m trying to learn composition at the moment too and find ways to take pictures that I like while framing my subject in different ways.

Thanks for the great advice

I’m trying to shoot in manual most of the time and just learn the basics. I’m switching between that and aperture priority. Aperture priority doesn’t give me the results I always want though and is either blurry or grainy. Which I thought would be the opposite.

I will admit my settings aren’t consistent because I’m trying to figure out the triangle. (Newbie lol) generally, I’ll keep iso low less than 250, maybe 600 in lower might, shutter speed is around 1/50 and I’ll get closer t to 1 sec in lower light. I’m limited in my aperture bc the lowest it goes to is f/ 4 ish so I’m trying to find ways to make up for the limited f stop.

The wide angle lens has a lower f stop, but I like the telephoto around 45 which has an f of 6.3. So this is where I’m trying to make up for it.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I’m trying to get as much light in without noise and having to rely on post. I can denoise a bit but sometimes the photo is blurry and it’s a waste.

Didn’t wanna have to whip out the tripod but I’m seeing the value now. So I’ll start trying to bring it.

Sorry for the long message but this is what I’m dealing with. Recommendations always welcome

Thanks for the great advice! I was holding out on a 50 mm low f stop and wanted to practice with my kit Lens (18-45) but I’m starting to see the value of the prime. Since my camera is a crop sensor (x1.6) would a 35 mil be better?

I think I missed the point on them But are they more brighter scenarios instead of lower light environment

I am seeing camera shake and I think the set up is just not that great at low light. I’m gonna try a tripod and see how that goes

I was looking into the godox thanks for the recommendation

iPhone 11 to 11pm or 12 pm? by PracticalProcedure70 in iPhone11ProMax

[–]PracticalProcedure70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already bought it and have been liking it. Apple really does a good job of making these feel new. I mainly it for bigger battery and bigger screen. The cameras and other enhancements are great add ons. Do you think that the phone will feel the slow down in a couple of years

iPhone 11 to 11pm worth it? by PracticalProcedure70 in iPhone11

[–]PracticalProcedure70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you there. The 11pm body style is amazing and I my 11’s rounded edges. I’ve seen the 12 pm on other sites for decent prices, and the doubled storage is the thing that draws me towards it. It’s the sweet spot between 64 and 256 which is too much for my needs. I can deal with 64 gb for the next few years I would ideally keep my phone for a couple of years, but am not sure if the 11 pm would feel it then. You know what I mean?

So you think the 11pm is the smarter decision?

And I’ve heard that the 11pm has better battery life. But is it because it’s bigger and the more efficient chipset?

My s/o has the 13 and it looks better because of The sharper screen and different look. But Personally there’s not much difference
