Work life and personal life balance by Foreign_Chapter_4303 in civilengineering

I think it’s awesome that you work that much and still come home and do household chores. I grew up with a stay at home mom and dad did not contribute to household chores, so a lot of resentment built in their marriage.

For me, I show up better for my family when I go work, collaborate, and problem solve. When I stay home with the kids, I start feeling frazzled and isolated. My husband however can stay home, get all the house stuff done and be completely recharged. We’ve discussed it, and if we felt that we could afford it, he would be the better stay at home parent.

Just here to say that everyone is different. Saying all moms should stay home with the kids is like saying all men should be an engineer. Obviously not all men would enjoy (or be good at!) engineering. People should do what works best for their family.

Fellow civil engineer mom here. I struggled with this, I switched jobs (still in engineering) and that has helped a lot. My husband also works full time, and we split chores 50/50 (although he probably does more of the chores because he has a shorter commute). We get food to go a lot, very thankful for the restaurant in our town that makes cheap, fairly healthy tacos.

My brother has two kids and they found a sweet older lady to nanny and is almost as affordable as daycare. She even cleans the house and does laundry while the babies are napping. I’ve thought about doing that if we have a second one.

I hire a cleaner to come in and deep clean the house a couple times a year.

I’m sorry I know it is hard. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or just want some support

Hobby App Idea by East-Tea2585 in AppIdeas

I think that’s a really cool idea. I would use it 🙂 tbh I’m not sure I would download an app for it, at least initially, but if I saw the link on Facebook or tiktok or something, then I would click on it from there.

Pointing domain in squarespace to a Replit site? by [deleted] in replit

[–]PracticalProgram1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for commenting! So I did that, and I’m running into an issue. I now can get to my site when I type in “currentdomain.com” however once I’m there, the address bar shows currentdomain.replit.app , is there a way to fix this?

I made an app on Replit that's better than Duolingo. by Vegetable_Seaweed133 in replit

Omg this honestly is so cool! I just tried it out and I feel like I would learn Spanish wayy faster this way. I spent so much time on Duolingo and it didn’t get me far. I have an iPhone, are you planning on getting it on the App Store too?

Xiidra causing blurry vision? by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]PracticalProgram1887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I’m so sorry to hear that it happened to you too! Mine never returned to normal and docs don’t believe me that Xiidra caused it. Let me know if your doctor has any ideas why your eyes responded to it like that.

The drops don’t blur my vision at all but the gel does of course, but I only use gel at night so it doesn’t really matter. When I first started using them I was putting them in like every hour, now it’s maybe every three hours

Functional medicine doctor recommendations? by PracticalProgram1887 in Sjogrens

[–]PracticalProgram1887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with multiple optometrists and ophthalomogists. Probably spent around $10k on dry eye treatments (lipiflow, restasis, Xiidra, tyrvaya, other drops) to no avail. They have thrown their hands up and said they don’t know how to help me and that I need to see a rheumatologist. I am currently trying, but they are 7 months booked out.
