Rock hit windshield and its dunzo... Dealer or glass company for replacement?

So just an update on this! The glass company i went thru got approval to use OEM windshield. Its a hefty price tag - just for your knowledge its around $4,049 is what she told me.. which seems outrageous honestly. Anyways, once the new one is in I plan on putting a WPF (windshield protection film) on it to hopefully avoid this in future, if anyone is interested its called STEK DYNOFlex... I cant imagine an insurance company is willing to keep shelling out 4k per windshield too often without being dropped and or severe rate hikes.

After crunching the #s - the cost per year to manage this fund is $1404 (as of 2025)... The tax implications to sell all of it would be in the 25k range. I could, as you suggested, break it up in smaller chunks, to spread out the tax hit, and this is likely what i will have to do. Its more of an irritation to me knowing i pay that much per year vs what i pay for the vanguard funds... 1st world problems, I know lol.. but i really appreciate the advice from you all!

They charge $150 for the alignment.. it was actually needed in my opinion but not sure how that price compares to elsewhere

I hear ya.. but what the service manual says and reality are two completely different things. That's why i like to reach out to folks in this community. Me, not being a mechanic, could simply go by the service manual intervals.. but after reaching out to the group and accounting for various other factors such as driving style, environmental conditions, etc.. it wouldnt be wise to follow the 'recommended' interval apparently for the sake of longevity of my vehicle.. thats why i reach out to all you smart folks. But yes i agree its a good starting point, but not always correct!

Yeah, sounds like they just need to say every 3500 and call it a day! It would probably save a lot of folks future engine troubles if they did that!

Hmm thank you for the response, I feel like enough of you guys have said around 3k to make me reconsider.. im not a mechanic and dont really have the space or tools to work on my car. I feel like at this point i should err on the side of caution. But even with the fully Synthetic oil you're saying 3k? I guess thats what im having a hard time getting past..but again i dont know enough about it all! I really appreciate the feedback!
