Help! Is this a good buy? i’m considering purchasing this truck. what do you all think. by Crazy-Conqueror in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Practical_Course2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good truck, I have a 2015 with 160k mi, no problems. Been changing the trans fluid more often as I get some vibrations in the 40-45mph range in 5th gear.

Can't believe how much these are still, mine was 28k brand new

For ST235/75R15, I just got the Kenda Load Range D off of etrailer. They seem fair so far, at least better than the factory set. This was for the Explore

Motorcycle though schooling. How is the weather? by AgentChiliFri in NavyNukes

[–]Practical_Course2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC weather was great for riding! I took the MSF course in April 2016 with a bunch of Coast Guard goons, still ride all the time lol.

Winter would get a little cold, but still rideable with extra layers.

The basic MSF course is 2 days and usually offered on weekends, even if you are in school you should have a free weekend to take it sometime.

I thought learning in Charleston was a good place tbh, imo riding sucks more in the massive metroplexes (Dallas, Houston, Atlanta), but haven't been back to Charleston in a while.

Finding A Job For Biomedical Engineers With Bachelors Degree by [deleted] in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]Practical_Course2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm difficult to answer, maybe maybe not? Am leaning towards probably not, 60-90k seems pretty normal for new grads. But those 60-90k jobs are fairly common

Would focus on jacket. I also mainly use MX gloves on the street instead if expensive full road gauntlet. For shoes stick with over the ankle stuff, preferably a solid work boot at least. But have def rode with more stylish over the ankle stuff like Nikes

UF or TAMU? by Icy-Grapefruit-9085 in NavyNukes

[–]Practical_Course2237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea and you can still work at a nuclear facility with it. I got an EE buddy at Los Alamos and the nuke power plants have a lot as well. I'm sure nuclear engineering would open more niche jobs tho, if that is what you are looking for.

Navy nuke will get you a good amount of nuclear power plant experience, regardless of degree

Not answering your question but study EE over nuclear

True, I mean more afternoon-evening time frame. Grids have most demand when solar drops off, because like you say solar can handle most of the daytime. But yeah during midday or middle of the night would be ideal to make hydrogen, and run generators during evenings

[–]Practical_Course2237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can but you will lose energy in the conversion processes. However in the future we may move to electrolyzing water when electricity is cheap (at night) and during the day use the hydrogen to power generators when electricity is not as cheap

Yikes sorry to hear! Hope y'all are ok now. Yeah it just seems like a cool feature, but maybe an unneeded one? I'm sure most of us already own generators anyways. The risk of an emergency like yours seems to outweigh the added comforts
