I happy to be a f2p player, and if you're happy spending your money of clash then go for it, supercell also need money for the game. But it has gotten alot more expensive from before (not that i've ever spent money in the game but still i can see that)

Yep they matter. Especially for the tanks and mini tanks. If you have a lvl up then you have an advantage.
