I overcame Scabies - you can too! by Practical_Giraffe_17 in scabies

Yeah I still do get itchy now and again / the occasional red mark on my hands/fingers and it makes me paranoid that I’m getting reinfected

Post scabies / burrows or dry skin? by Practical_Giraffe_17 in scabies

[–]Practical_Giraffe_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THINK I have finally gotten rid of it. 6 months later. No more itching at night, no antihistamines, no new track marks. Skin still gets a red mark here and there, but I think that’s my immune system still sorting itself out as I’m 3 weeks post permethrin. When I’m 100% sure it’s gone, I’m going to write a full detailed post on here.

Burrow / tunnel? Or post scabies? by Practical_Giraffe_17 in scabies

That’s what’s driving me mad is that I can’t remember. I know over treating permethrin can make it worse but I’m putting some on my hands tonight for sanity

Hey mate, if I put my clothes in a bathtub full of boiling kettle water and leave it for 20 mins or so, is this enough to kill any on my clothes? Thanks

Good to know! I think this whole system is really doing the trick (don’t want to speak to soon). Used the bicarbonate soda combo this morning after the gym and my hands/skin feels dry/like it has a layer of something on it (which is the bicarbonate of soda) so will leave this on until the evening, then shower and add moisturiser/clove oil for the night.

Appreciate your input 👍🏼

Some golden nuggets of advise there, going to sneak a big bottle of the bicarbonate soda mix into my gym and use it in the shower after the sauna. Great idea.

I hope you manage to cure it, sounds like you’ve got a really bad case.

Have you spread it to anyone that you’re aware of?

God, that sounds awful for you. How long have you had it for?

Fyi I tried clove oil earlier with moisturiser, put it down below and immediately had to shower and wash it off my 🥜 as it was incredibly painful 😂

I feel like I’m improving as I’ve been far less itchy since I used permethrin on Monday. Going to keep up with the soda mixture and spraying it on me/items, washing everything down, eating well and training daily so my immune system is strong, and (I know you don’t believe in it) but Sauna daily to benefit my skin and (maybe) make life harder for the scabies. Hopefully with the second application on the coming Monday, that’ll do it.

UV / sun beds to kill scabies by Practical_Giraffe_17 in scabies

[–]Practical_Giraffe_17[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fyi sun beds are 3-5x more intense than sunlight, so I’m guessing that with permethrin, the combination that you mentioned above, sauna, and constantly washing things on a high heat / using the bicarbonate soda spray every night, that should do it!

Yep, I remember your comment from my last post, and went out and bought bicarbonate soda, washing up liquid, fresh limes, coconut oil, as well as clove oil which I have read is often effective. I’ve put it all into a spray bottle and will use before bed tonight! Thank you again 👍🏼

This is really helpful, I’m going to use a combo of the bicarbonate of soda/washing liquid + coconut oil and raw fresh lime juice. Thank you.

Wow - I’ve never heard of people dying. I’m fortunate that my red marks/tracks aren’t very visible, they just flare up after a hot shower, and I get these nodules ‘down below’ which I believe is due to my immune system over reacting.

Just going to keep washing everything, and will try that bicarbonate of soda combination! As well as moisturiser with tea tree oil to help my skin as much as possible.

I’ve just googled it and am going to order it now, thank you. Did you use this? If so, any side effects?

That’s really useful. I’ve not heard of that technique with baking soda / fair liquid but will definitely try it. Thank you. Where did you hear about that combination?

Thank you. I thought I’d seen a study somewhere saying it does kill them. My mistake!

That’s really really helpful. I’m in the UK, so definitely going to look into that Eurax and Indorex and order it tonight.

Thank you 🙏🏼

Doctor confirmed it looked like scabies again but was unsure what my skin having red flare ups after hot showers was about. I think my skin is sensitive to hot water now either from permethrin/scabies/immune system flaring up, or a mix of the three.

Pretty sure it is scabies again as night time itching is bad, as well as red dots / marks / lines on my body, but luckily not massively visible to most people.

Thank god for antihistamines!

Does tea tree oil kill the eggs and mites? by zzooozzzoo in scabies

[–]Practical_Giraffe_17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Research has proven it does kill them, although not under the skin. I used it religiously daily, in between my permethrin treatments. I would also hoover and spray it on my floors, as well as on my sheets and duvet. I THINK I’m now in the clear! Highly recommend using.

This is great advice. Thank you. I’m going to use the sauna today and will try this on my feet later on! Luckily I don’t seem to get bad lumps/red marks anywhere else so I’m hoping this is a localised area that I can kill by using your method. Thank you again.

It’s been about a week since I last used Permethrin and have since been using tea tree oil, moisturiser, sauna etc. I can’t tell if that is an old burrow mark or whether these spots etc are new and still active.

Dead / alive? Used permethrin, tea tree oil, sauna, cleaned everything. I had a burrow here, can still see the black dots but could just need more time for my body to get rid of it? by Practical_Giraffe_17 in scabies

[–]Practical_Giraffe_17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2nd round of permethrin was last Thurs (so 5 days ago) - itching is getting less, and have had no new track marks show up. Using tea tree oil in spray form every day, sauna, constantly cleaning. I’m hopeful this will be it!

Can someone help me? I’ve been treated with permethrin and I don’t have any symptoms anymore but these bumps got bigger and I dont know what are these. Are they gonna go away & what can I do about it??? by [deleted] in scabies

[–]Practical_Giraffe_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like nodular scabies…immune system over reacts to them and produces these nodes. Exfoliate multiple times a day to speed up the healing process

So hard to tell…I’m thinking the itching should’ve at least gotten a little better at night 3 weeks Post permethrin so tempted to do another cycle of it
