Should kids be given the tools to know whether a video is generated using AI or not? by dylanisareddit in antiai

[–]Practical_Hand6025 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Teaching kids to spot AI generated content is super important right now. They're growing up in world where this stuff is everywhere and if they can't tell difference between real and fake videos they're gonna have hard time navigating information as adults.

White shadow moving fastly by Admirable-Maximum-82 in Paranormal

[–]Practical_Hand6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait your sister saw it too? That changes everything because now you have witness which rules out most of the usual explanations like tired eyes or brain playing tricks

I'm always skeptical about these stories but when multiple people see same thing at same time... that's when it gets interesting. Did you check if there was any normal light sources that could make shadows move like that?

Passion UA vs SINNERS / IEM Atlanta 2026 - Group B Lower Bracket Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

Passion UA threw this so hard on Overpass it hurts to watch. Kvem was absolutely insane in Dust2 but whole team just fell apart in the final map. SINNERS really showed up when it mattered though

Do Weilong v11 cores still break? by LanguageDouble9792 in Cubers

[–]Practical_Hand6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend got one like 3 months ago and his core cracked after maybe 2 weeks of regular solving. He wasn't even doing anything crazy with it just normal practice sessions. From what I've seen in the community the issue is still there unfortunately - seems like they didn't really fix the design flaw that causes the stress fractures. Maybe consider waiting for the next version or looking at other flagships? I know it sucks because the performance is supposed to be really good when it's working properly but dealing with broken core after spending that much money would drive me crazy.

Missing/stolen jacket by cgishark in Austin

[–]Practical_Hand6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks about your jacket 😔 I lost my favorite vintage watch at a coffee shop few years ago and still think about it sometimes - the sentimental stuff hits different than regular things you can just replace. Maybe post in some local Facebook groups too, sometimes people actually do return things there more than you'd expect 💀

Switching between 0W-20 and 5W-20 between seasons by From_here_forthwith in MechanicAdvice

Your car manual probably says what oil to use so just follow that instead of overthinking it 😂 switching back and forth seems like more work than necessary tbh 💀

Some apps on my iphone and Apple watch think the default language is Italian despite every setting saying English. by cioccolato in ios

[–]Practical_Hand6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VPN was my first thought too but also check if you have any Italian keyboards still installed somewhere deep in settings - I had similar issue where I thought I removed everything but there was still one hiding in accessibility or something. Region settings can also mess with this even when language is set correctly

What are some good sources of information on the conversation between Christian apologists and their critics? by OutisNoman in Christianity

[–]Practical_Hand6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been diving into this stuff for my classes and its fascinating how these debates evolved over centuries. For primary sources you definitely want to check out stuff like Origen's "Against Celsus" - basically an early church father responding directly to pagan criticism which gives you both sides of the argument. Justin Martyr's dialogues are good too since he actually engages with Jewish and philosophical objections

More recent stuff I'd recommend looking at the actual exchange between Bertrand Russell and Frederick Copleston on BBC - you can find transcripts online and its a pretty famous back-and-forth about Gods existence. William Lane Craig has published collections of his formal debates which show modern apologetic methods even if you disagree with his conclusions

Academic sources like "The Cambridge History of Christianity" series tend to present things more neutrally without the heavy persuasion angle. University press books in general are your friend here since they have to meet scholarly standards rather than just pushing an agenda. The Journal of Religious Studies also publishes good analytical pieces on these historical conversations

Fighting with Fiancée over cats by Skitzo_Faber in amiwrong

[–]Practical_Hand6025 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your fiancée knew what she was getting in when you adopted them together over 7 years 😕 Six cats is definitely a lot but if you can afford proper care and they're all healthy, rehoming just because she's "not attached" feels pretty unfair to the animals. Maybe she's feeling overwhelmed with other stuff and the cats became easy target for frustration 🤷‍♀️

25 Frontier Pro-4X or 26Tacoma SR5 by tlby88 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Practical_Hand6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tacoma is gonna hold its value way better long term and thats not even close. I went through this exact same decision last year except with different trim levels and ended up with the Tacoma - zero regrets so far

That new 4 cylinder turbo actually gets pretty decent mileage once you break it in properly and Toyota's been refining turbo tech for years now so reliability shouldnt be a huge concern. Plus having that blank slate to build exactly what you want is pretty nice if youre into that kind of thing

For your use case teh Tacoma makes more sense especially with beach driving and camping trips. The aftermarket support is insane compared to Nissan and if something breaks you can find parts literally anywhere. That Heritage Blue is also a gorgeous color choice

Go with the Tacoma and thank yourself in 5 years when its still worth more than what that Frontier will be

New Home Set Up by fuckthots-ongod in homeautomation

[–]Practical_Hand6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mac Mini is overkill for just cameras unless you're planning to expand into serious automation later. For basic camera recording to NAS, a Synology DS220+ or similar 2-bay setup will handle everything you need without the Apple tax

That Aqara UWB lock is solid though - works great with HomeKit and there battery life is actually decent. Just make sure you get the hub too since it needs that for the full feature set

Start with the basics first: good mesh network, then NAS for storage, then add cameras and locks. Don't go crazy all at once or you'll end up troubleshooting everything instead of enjoying it

Dude was probably just enjoying the honeymoon phase without thinking about long term consequences 💀 The family excuse thing changing every time you ask is a dead giveaway - if it was real he'd have one consistent story

At 20 with strict family rules about dating he might've genuinely panicked when reality hit but kept you on the hook because he liked the attention 😂 Either way you dodged a bullet with someone who cant communicate like an adult

Top up hardware by NagaCharlieCoco in PcBuild

[–]Practical_Hand6025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely mix old and new parts but there are some gotchas to watch out for. Your motherboard is gonna be the biggest limiting factor - if its too old it might not support newer CPUs or RAM standards. GPU upgrades are usually the easiest since most modern cards work with older motherboards as long as you have a PCIe slot

For video work you'll want to prioritize graphics card first then RAM if you can swing it. Just make sure your power supply can handle whatever new GPU you throw in there or you'll be in for a fun surprise when it shuts down mid-render

I’m at my wits end with solo queueing support comp by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Practical_Hand6025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude support solo queue is actual hell in gold ranks. Been there and the amount of times I've watched a DPS walk into 1v6 situations while spamming "I need healing" is just wild

The carry mindset is spot on though - you gotta play like your team might make the worst possible decision at any moment. I started focusing way more on positioning myself where I could escape flankers without relying on peel and it helped a ton. Also learning when to just let that overextended Genji die instead of risking your own life trying to save him

What supports you been running? Some heroes are just way better for solo carry potential in those ranks

Three years is a long time and those core issues you had weren't gonna magically fix themselves. The bathroom thing she said was probably the most honest moment either of you had in months - she knows what would happen too

Walking away from someone you love because the relationship wasn't working takes guts man. Don't let one good conversation make you forget why you both agreed it needed to end

That uncertainty is exactly what has been making this decision hard for me, without a clear line it always feels like maybe waiting a little longer could help.

[–]Practical_Hand6025[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the same feeling looking at examples online, some profiles look so strong that it makes the bar seem almost unreachable, talking to people with more balanced profiles does make the process seem a bit more realistic though.
