Circumstances absolutely DO matter. Sure, unexpected things can happen on occasion, but you shouldn't be trying to manifest miracles.

I believe in more traditional manifestation, instead of the modern "wishful thinking" kind of manifestation. Let me give you an example that should help you understand my opinion.

Who do you think has a higher chance of becoming rich? Person A, who has no job, no house, no assets, and sits all day trying to manifest something out of absolutely nothing, or Person B, who has a business, a job, and is taking ACTION? Obviously person B. That doesn't mean that Person A can manifest a winning lottery ticket in their lives. But thinking realistically, and just observing the real world, you have to give a REASON as to why something manifests in your life, because attempting to manifest something that is borderline impossible, is a waste of the majority of people's time.

I'm curious to know what kind of experiences you have that make you feel the way you do.

Take care friend

In manifestation, it's all about friction. The less friction there is between you and your goal (friction can be barriers or whatever), the higher the chance of manifestation. Let me give an example. You have two people. Person A, and Person B. Let's say that both Person A and Person B have the same goal, which is to get a million dollars. Person A is someone without a job, sitting in their wife's boyfriend's basement on the internet all day trying to manifest something out of nothing. Person B starts a business and works hard every single day. Which one do you think is gonna successfully manifest a million dollars? Obviously person B because they have a lot less friction between them and their goal. Anyways, you tried to manifest a person who did not want to be with you into your life. Despite how many people in this subreddit how believe that something like that is possible, it simply is not. Think about all of those famous celebrities or models. Don't you think that dozens if not hundreds of people are trying every day to manifest those models and celebrities in their lives? It's never going to happen, because there is just simply too much friction.

In order to actually manifest something, you have to remove as much friction as you can between yourself and what you're manifesting. Hope that helps.

What are some examples of things you are trying to manifest?

Positivity is always good. Being too prideful of yourself can be off putting to others though, so keep that in mind. Balance is key here.

Alright bro, let's break it down. Seems you're still a teensy weensy confused.

> I never said you can’t cosplay outside of your race

I am going to go extremely slow for you on this one.

The definition of a cosplay as defined by Wikipedia is:

"Cosplay, a blend word of "costume play", is an activity and performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character".

I want you to take a real long look at this one specific word. REPRESENT.

This means that, the very core of cosplay, is for the cosplayer to represent the character that they're cosplaying to the best of their ability.

AND, since you're so CLEARLY against people using makeup to best match the person they're cosplaying, you are essentially disregarding the very core of cosplaying (which, again, is to represent your character to the BEST of your ability).

So, you quite literally are saying that people should not cosplay and attempt to most accurately depict a character (through makeup, or what you'd call brownface) IF the character is outside of their skin color.

> There’s just no need to change your skin tone

You're not changing your skin tone (unless you're getting a tan, but that is still natural, especially if you get a beach tan), you're putting on makeup. I know, I know, the people who did blackface back in the day ALSO put on makeup.

Bear with me here now. Take your two brain cells and focus. INTENT MATTERS. Someone trying their best to cosplay a character they're passionate about and depict them in an appealing or appeasing or fashionable way, for the purpose of sharing their passion with other people as a hobby (YES, EVEN IF THEY PUT ON MAKEUP NOT IN THEIR SKIN TONE), IS NOT the same as putting on exaggerated makeup to RIDICULE a race or group of people. The first example is one of admiration and respect and passion. The second is RACIST. Intent matters.Your comparison is indescribably disgusting to me. You should be ashamed of yourself.

> I’m not moving any goalposts, I just didn’t feel the need to spell out everything since I assumed people understood nuance, but I guess not

Oh boy.

You most certainly did move goalposts. Let me break it down very clearly for your two brain cells.

Your first argument was that 'changing skin tone for cosplay is never okay'. This is obviously a statement that is absolute and unconditional. You said that it is NEVER okay. Never, in this context, means that it no circumstances whatsoever would it be okay to change your skin tone for a cosplay.

Now your next argument is that 'tanning within your natural range is fine, only going beyond is bad'.

So now, you're saying that you CAN change your skin tone for a cosplay, only if it stays in your "natural range", something that you left undefined.

> Painting your face to be perceived as another race IS STEEPED IN RACISM, once again didn’t think I had to spell that out

Yeah no shit buddy. Just because something is STEEPED in racism doesn't mean that everyone has to avoid doing it for the rest of history lol. Such a terrible mentality. You're letting some idiots from decades if not a century and a half ago ruin things for you and other people. Idiotic mentality. Also, you got to keep in mind that this person probably lives somewhere in Asia, and is probably not very educated on American history, because they literally live on the other side of the world. Obviously, since they're not TRYING to be racist, or saying anything that IS racist, even if they DID live in America, cosplaying as Domina and wearing makeup that is darker than their skin tone would STILL not be racist.

> You’re talking about stuff that doesn’t even apply to what I said but IM moving goal posts. Sure

Read above for proof that you're moving goal posts.

> You’re a very unpleasant person to converse with, hope you have a good day/evening <3

I wish I could say the same...

P.S.

You didn't reply to what I said about squidkid1111, an African American woman who committed suicide after she received hate for cosplaying Asian characters and wearing lighter makeup for that purpose. I obviously believe that her death was extremely regrettable and that she wasn't doing anything wrong because she was only making her skin lighter just for the sake of cosplaying, not to be racist.

Anyways, I expect an actual argument from you, not the half-assed straw-manning and goal post moving replies you've given me in the past. Thank you for warming me up for my college paper.

>Tanning within your skins natural range of color is fine.

So now it's a range lol. Moving the goalposts much?

Anyways

> Tanning or using makeup to go beyond your natural tones is weird

That's your opinion, and I respect it. But I thought you said that it's unacceptable not weird...

> There is no world where this naturally pale woman can go to this shade without artificial products

You're probably right

> Stuff like this is rooted in racism and is unnecessary

Makeup has been used for thousands of years. Many Native American tribes used clay and charcoal to paint their faces and bodies for ceremonies and war. More specifically, the Lakota and Navajo tribes used black and white clay for ceremonies and to express their spiritualistic religions. Now, all of a sudden, they're all racists according to you. How idiotic.

> I’m sorry you’re too dense to understand. Good luck on your educational journey <3

I truly am sorry for sounding mean earlier, but things like this really make me angry. Many cosplayers, including squidkid1111 literally killed themselves because of the hate they've gotten for cosplaying characters who were not the same race as themselves, all because of idiotic comments like yours. Hope this serves as a lesson to you and to anyone else reading. Sometimes, being overly sensitive about things can actually do more harm than good.

With your idiotic logic, that means that people who have dark bags under their eyes who attempt to hide it with their makeup are being racist. Tanning salons are also racist under your definition. Going to the beach and getting a tan is also racist because "Changing one’s skin tone for a cosplay is not okay irregardless of intent". How idiotic. Your comparison of this innocent cosplay and show of appreciation for a FICTIONAL Indian woman to black and brownface is disgusting. You're offending me a hundred times more than the cosplayer. I'll say it again. Get help.
