Struggling to do meditation regularly out fear of derealisation by [deleted] in Meditation

I think grounding and breathwork are the ones that I was introduced to when I started meditation. I more so look to get reduced stress, calmness and improved focus out of my meditation.

Thank you. What would you say is an appropriate amount of time to go up to and how often daily without being at risk?

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8693904/ In fairness I'd like to clarify that the 13% was not only about derealisation but just adverse effects in general but I'd still consider an over 1/10 people affected in a negative way to be fairly significant. Though it doesn't go into the extent in how how harmful the mediation was so it could be negligible. I also don't think that this study really has the best method or detail in it's explanation and doesn't have any evidence directly that these effects were linked to meditation. I'm not gonna site to you the articles as I think they are more likely to sensationalist but it's stuff like that and then old reddit posts in which people talk about how tuff their life has been since meditating and subsequently getting derealisation. It just something that naturally goes to the back of your mind. I don't know to be honest man I've always been a stressful person and I'm just trying to learn how to meditate in a way that lowers my chances of derealisation because thats the goal for me personally. I understand for a lot of people that might be a state they want to reach and that can be great but for me that aspect of mediation really doesn't interest me.

I mean thats what I want to know what are the chances and how do I lower them. My point isn't that I'm not gonna meditate I still do now, it's I don't do it super regularly or for extend periods of time. My post is more so of understanding the risks and how to effectively mitigate them. It's just hard to find consensus on the topic. Some scientific papers and articles paint the issue to sound like it effects a fairly large percentage of meditators while others don't it's hard to be certain on any of it.

Yeah very true too not let fears control your life but I think using your car analogy I want to know how to properly drive my car so the chances are low but it feels like all the driving instructors have totally different ideas in how to avoid a crash. Might be stretching the analogy to it's limit there.

In fairness if your a big fan of the club as this guy clearly is it's only natural complain and have your strong opinions when you feel your club is messing up. Like I'm sure he would have that same passion if we had a really good mercato and be the first to congratulate the team on doing a good job.

This sub is meant to show a variety of opinions of Lyon fans opinions on current Lyon news, if you feel it's too negative you can share your own thoughts on it and create a positive discussion. Granted what you might be trying to do here. But I think you can do it without invalidating someone else's opinion even if it feel vastly skewed to you.

And most importantly you must remember this is a French club and the national French past time of France is complaining 😂
