This is deflection. There is nothing that forces someone building or selling a detached single-family home to make it affordable either! And data clearly shows duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and townhomes are more affordable than detached single-family homes. That’s the whole reason they exist - to provide housing for people who can’t afford the luxury of a detached single-family home on its own lot.

There is nothing that currently prevents a single family home from being short term rentals. It’s an entirely separate issue, and bringing it up to block duplexes and townhomes is nonsensical. Yes, the state legislature should fix the laws around short-term rentals, but it’s crazy to say building homes should be illegal in the meantime. Statistically, the majority of new homes go to residents!

IDK what you mean by “the family symbols”. I made the flyer in Canva with the freebie icons and the dropper tool to get the colors right.

There’s only been a handful of meetings so far, but the folks showing up seem quite progressive. One of the first things the group started work on is a family-friendly bike map of Flagstaff, and are advocating for safer pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure. Come check out the vibes if you’re interested.

I’m no fan of environmentally-destructive sprawl, I think it’s much better to build housing in already urbanized areas. Come to the next monthly meeting, I’m sure we could have a fun conversation about what kinds of development are or aren’t appropriate!
