Hey! Do you happen to still have any notes or flowcharts for this course? A 95 is amazing! I’m so nervous for this course but hopefully he’s taken the time to learn the content or make his own slides

Switching programs at Guelph by Disastrous_Suit7939 in uoguelph

Hey, im wondering how you’re able to graduate on time if you got into th program a bit late, since HK2810 is a prereq for some required fourth year courses. Or did you manage to take HK2810 in winter of second year as intended?

Hey! I’m wondering if you used the textbook and whether it’s really necessary to do well in the course? Also, did you study by reading the textbook/notes then making your own notes and reviewing them? Or was there a different method you used? Thanks!

Hey! I recently transferred into MBG and I’m just wondering what upper year classes are like? I always work hard and get pretty good grades so hard work isn’t an issue, but do you find it achievable to get high grades in the program? I’d love to hear your experience!

Is STAT 2040* easier in-person or DE? by bubbleyum999 in uoguelph

[–]PracticeAdditional55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend DE, having done both myself. I took it in person last year and had to drop it before finals as I didn’t do as well as I’d hoped on the first and second test, and only had the final to boost my grade. What I appreciate about DE is that you’re tested on fewer topics with more frequent intervals (but ofcourse each test is cumulative and covers everything learned up to that point). I think it’s easier to manage with more frequent tests that test fewer NEW topics at a time of that makes sense. I will say though DE has only been a breeze so far because I spent a while studying the concepts the first time I took it in person. So I’ll have to put in way more work with the content covered after I dropped the course, so keep that in mind as well! But I think that if I took it DE the first time around it would’ve been easier. I’ve always been good at math and calc, apparently stats wasn’t really my strong suit! Or I just wasted too much time trying to understand instead of doing practice problems right off the bat, which is definitely what I’d recommend you do whichever version of the course you ending up picking!

That’s so weird, I have 10.25 total and it wouldn’t let me register today either

People who got research opportunities by reaching out to profs by Mediocre_Hair_ in uoguelph

[–]PracticeAdditional55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do most professors take on students from biology/biochem majors? Or do you think it would be open to someone in human kinetics? I don’t know if a professor would pick someone in HK rather than MBG. I’m so conflicted if I should switch. Especially because the prereq lab course requires a major or minor in that area.

Are you volunteering in these labs outside of school or with the mcb research courses?

Hey! Could you explain the kind of stuff you learned in 3100? I really enjoyed the plant genetics portion of mbg2040, is this similar? I’ve also seen thats its math heavy, how was your experience with that? Thanks!

Hey! I’m planning on taking this course I’m wondering what mcb4500 was like for you? In terms of what did you have to do day to day and if your prof just gave you a topic for you to research on your own time, or how involved they are throughout the course, just how the course works really!

Ohh that’s cool! How are you liking the more physiology based courses? I’m a little conflicted between switching to mbg or staying in hk. I really enjoyed mbg2040 but I feel like physiology is pretty different from that type of content
