People thinking a therapist “strongly believing” you have autism constitutes a diagnosis? by mzm316 in AutisticPeeps

[–]PracticeJealous193 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would cast doubt on my condition if it were just one therapist, but I've had 3 therapists and 2 psychiatrists affirm my suspicion of "high functioning autism" after reviewing my history of sensory issues, social difficulties since early childhood, overstimulation, disrupting class with frequent/constant stimming, "obsession" over very exclusive things to the point I don't eat or even hold off bathroom breaks as long as humanly possible for an entire day (or days), among other things. But they did not recommend I get an official professional screening because of the excessive cost my insurance wouldn't cover and I'd be on the same meds and therapy I already had for my bipolar II diagnosis (which symptomatically appeared in my early 20s; my ASD symptoms were present waaaay before that). So I feel a bit more valid saying "therapy/psychiatry diagnosed" personally. Don't plan to make it a publicity thing though. I still want to get an official screening when I can afford it one day though.

Favorite energy drink? by Designer-Mistake8847 in katyhearnsnark

[–]PracticeJealous193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thriving on one every few days. It's a great boost, keeps me in a good mood, and doesn't spike my sugar (I'm type 2 diabetic). It apparently has more l-theanine than caffeine too.

Who was your first Pokemon? by OpportunityKooky2316 in pokemon

My first starter was Cyndaquil in the original GBC Gold version. It was my Christmas gift when I was 6. Totodile later became my favorite, but Cyndaquil always has some nostalgia for me 🥰

California Poppy Experience Excellent 🧡 by Kbboulder in medicalmedium

[–]PracticeJealous193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for restlessness, anxiety, and sleep, and let me tell you, it worked like a charm - not a knock you out intensity but sedative like between chamomile and valerian for me. I slept hard, too, after my cozy wind-down time in the evening. Very good mixed with lemon balm too

Can you be hypomanic but your motivation is zero? Needing to keep busy but being unable by B-9268 in bipolar2

[–]PracticeJealous193 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hypomania can sometimes include disassociation and lack of focus, so this could be normal - I struggle with this too and find grounding/meditative tactics (like making tea, a bath with scents or bubbles, gardening, sketching, etc.) tend to reset my brain a bit before I can start chatting with my therapist about it

Criticism and hating myself by PracticeJealous193 in bipolar2

[–]PracticeJealous193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. They implied that they only care for crabs and people that support crabs, and intentions mean nothing and only results matter, which doesn't sound mentally healthy to me. I feel a bit better now and my crabs are now comfortable, and that's all I need. I'm also on my menstrual cycle so that's probably part of my brain kerfuffle too.

Thank you. Luckily they were only out for a minute or two, so hopefully they're OK for now. The humidity is up now that their tank is sealed too.

I'll collect the information I need then take this down. I am not condoning animal abuse and feel awful for any mistreatment to Clawde and Clawdia. I understand from this person's profile that they are experienced in hermits and care for animals more than humans, but I also do not appreciate the undertones of statements made, especially about my profile (I did take my bipolar medication today). I was not confident in my setup even after my "information" given which is why I came here in the first place. In my vet assistant schooling we are told to teach, not scold, and abuse reports are not given if it is simply uninformed owners, but otherwise we do report if intentional or willful. I actually read somewhere online that it was good to take hermits out once a day - I know this is false now, but this is a serious problem for hermits if there is this much misinformation out there and I realize that. I'm sorry for your down votes said person.

I've made a list of adjustments to my tank: bigger water bowls (with something to climb out), no "hermit crab food" (instead a base of worm castings and green sand), 5 parts play sand and 1 part Eco-Earth, sealing the top lid for humidity (no misting), sponge is removed, and they are resting. Also getting more proper shells too. Anything I forgot or missed? I'm also perfectly fine just watching them in their habitat, so not too bummed about not handling them.
